This director has practically destroyed almost everything he's touched, he totally ruined alone in the dark.
And now moronic ppl have given him dungeon siege movie, Farcry movie, and the Postal movie.
You can read accounts of his incompetents online. He sounds like a REAL moron.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/

Just one small example, an excerpt from one of the interviews blue links to:

1UP: Though BloodRayne hasn't officially screened for critics, there have been some select showings, one of which prompted a sharply negative review by Ain't It Cool News, a site you previously told 1UP you read. Is that the response you were expecting?

UB: no. HARRY and Quint are retards

This sounds like bullshit to me. 5500 theatres PLUS the 1900 it was intended for? That's 7400 theatres. Madagascar was the most widely shown movie of 2005, and at it's peak, it played at 4100 theatres. I ain't buying it. There's too many accountants, traffic people, managers, shipping personnel, etc. involved to have not noticed what would almost certainly be the biggest distribution fuckup in cinema history.

Anyone catch the interview with this schmuck on attack of the show? he actually had the balls to admit he makes the video game movies strictly for the money. i mean, obviously since he clearly has no idea what any of the games are about, but to sit there and watch him admit that was truly a sight to behold.

None of the theatres are showing this even in some major cities.

I can't find anyone in the country who has actually seen it.

Why in the world is Ben Kingsley in this ? I take it that he has always wanted to do a vampire flick but still ...

I'm a sucker for vampire films too but I think I'll miss this one. I should have known when the reviewers weren't allowed to prescreen it. That's always a very bad sign.

I'm trying to figure out how he secured funding for the other half dozen game films he's doing. His previous films have tanked.

I heard that his supply of films was going to dry up soon because of a recent change in germans tax code.

Previously I think if you were a german who was making alot of money on stocks or whatever (and so would have to pay tons of income tax) and invested you invested in Uwe Boll and then the movie tanked you could write off several times the ammount you invested against the taxes you would owe, so you would end up coming out ahead.
It was to promote german movies/directors.

That interview makes me laugh.

1UP: What stood out about the casting of Kristanna Loken? In the latest issue of FHM (an American men's magazine), she's quoted on the cover as saying "I love being naked." C'mon, tell us, that must be it.

UB: yes. and she is in the movie naked

That's not so much the question, really. Uwe Boll is intentionally raping the whole game-to-movie concept to make money, especially when the man must know the movies suck as a director. I'm willing to bet most of these movies would have been decent if anyone else of reputation had helmed them.

What I want to know is how this guy continues to get funding for his movies when the studios must know how abysmal his box office returns are. I mean, the trailer puts his name in big letters, as if this poor excuse for a director actually has fans. I just don't understand it, someone explain it to me please!

Supposedly, the German tax shelter that allows Boll to make bombs and still profit from it has been closed, but that's been the explanation for his ability to get funding.

What I don't understand is how any self-respecting actor would agree to play a role in a film of his, knowing his background.

I take it you guys never saw Species or A Sound of Thunder -- the man's a brilliant actor, but definitely not averse to hitching a ride on the Money Truck from time to time either..

ps - don't see those movies just to find out what I'm talking about... Or at least, don't say I didn't warn you

As I understand it, the loophole was closed to prevent abuse of the tax shelter from Hollywood studios. Tomb Raider for example, funded about 90% of it's $100M budget this way. Since Boll is German and uses German investors to fund his films, he is exempt from this closure. I could be wrong, but that's how I read it on Wikipedia.

What I don't understand is how any self-respecting actor would agree to play a role in a film of his, knowing his background

Slumming is a time-honored tradition in Hollywood. As MeatFarts already pointed out, Kingsley is not above this sort of activity (we can add Thunderbirds to that list, too). Anyone ever see a super-cheesy movie from the 70's called Tentacles? An Italian-produced Jaws rip-off, about a giant octopus, it had 3 Oscar winners in it's cast: John Huston, Shelley Winters, and Henry Fonda (who technically, hadn't won his yet, but still - Henry Fonda!), who looked like he agreed to make this spaghetti-monster movie only if he were allowed to film his scenes in his backyard. It's the kind of film that would have shown up on Mystery Scienxe Theatre 3000.

Pony up the cash, and you too can have Burt Reynolds, Ray Liotta, and Ben Kingsley in your epic production of Battlecruiser!

Correct, but all projects announced before Dec 31 of last year will still profit from the German tax loophole. That's why Uwe Boll announced 5 different projects last December. He will still be occupied and abuse the tax loophole till 2008 the earliest.

Did I mentioned that Konami agreed last month to let Uwe Boll make a film out of the Metal Gear Solid franchise?

Ha! I kept thinking that this all sounded like something out of The Producers and now the German tax loophole may explain it.
