Out of the Blue

And the Giants season comes to an end. I had no realistic hopes of the team surviving past next week in Chicago, so it's not like I am heartbroken over the loss, but I sure do wish they had risen above humiliation, especially since the team's last appearances in the post-season also ended in embarrassments (Super Bowl XXXV, and the 49ers' ridiculous comeback in the 2002 Wild Card game). Oh well.

The Giants are further ahead than most people expected this year. I was expected 9-7, with a possible Wild Card. 11-5 and a division title, it gives us hope for a good run next year.

I get a kick out of the fact the title for the page indicates it's "Breaking News"...

And better to reach the playoffs than not (and be without coach).

That is actually a fairly interesting article.
So, Starbucks is popular over there, or do people go there for lack of choice? Nevermind; people apparently go to Starbucks because the cofee there has 50% more caffeine...

EDIT:

No... Seems to link to the pop-up, actually...

Just saw a bit at CNN.com about the Camaro concept car (someone linked to it a while back as well).

http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/funonwheels/01/09/detroit_camaro_concept/index.html

I'm glad the auto industry is finally seeing that if you are going to bring back some vehicles (Camaro, Challenger, or redesign them, like the Mustang) - stay somewhat true to the original styling and don't morph them into something they weren't, like a passenger car.

And the Raiders. I would have LOVED a division title and a playoff birth over ANOTHER 4-12 season.

No kidding. People in minivans/SUVs and on cell-phones are a menace to anyone on a bike. Huge blind spots, and people just don't process a motorcycle as an oncoming threat.

Tailgaters in traffic suck too. They don't seem to realize we can stop in 1/6th the distance they can. Going to have to start carrying a pocketful of ball bearings around to drop for the persistent ones

Yep, and played themselves right out of the #1 pick in the last couple weeks, too. I just have 1 request for the 49ers:

If you are going to suck all year and miss the playoffs, don't turn unsucky enough to win a game or two at the end of the season and lose out on great draft position. Please.

Edit - and it looks like the Kings are looking for help via the Ping-Pong ball lottery as well. This sucks. At least ACT like you care if you win.

I guess. I hit the Starbucks that's a click away from my campus because the coffee is just damn good there. Then again, the increased caffeine compared to the other coffee houses around here is higher.

Tim Hortons. Everyday. Not necessarily because the coffee is good, but because the coffee is consistent.

Heard of, but never been there before. Yeah...the Starbucks I mentioned had a problem with consistency. They hired mostly college kids and most of them were to timid in preparing lattes and machiatos. Don't worry little girl, that Latte is indeed suppose to have some strength behind it.

Speaking of driving

<Insert obligatory comment on Enahs's misfortune>

I am going to get me some of these

I've often wanted something like that, and had vague ideas about rigging up one of those scrolling LED signs to the rear window. It'd be doable, with both pre-generated and custom messages, but expensive.

And, of course, it would just further piss people off, which wouldn't necessarily be the brightest idea.

All that said, from the website:
The cards utilize the latest "reverse-type technology", up until now found only in Ambulance Vehicles

WTF. Why the hell are they calling it a "technology"? I know the answer, but it irks me. This is hardly some amazingly new invention, and they're wrong about it only being found on ambulances... I've seen mirror-image (hey, there's the proper terminology!) stickers on ricer cars, taxis, and all kinds of other vehicles. Like I said... I know, they're just trying to sound cool and crap, and it actually would be useful for the cards, but it's still annoying.
