Really, gamers are really the only ones at this point who need the extra bandwidth. Though I imagine that will change with streaming media coming of age and all that jazz.
While some people do not need the speed , as a on-line first person shooter player I need all the band width I can get. Both the upload speed and download speed. I notice the bogger never once talked about gamers. It goes to show ya that most people that complain have no idea what they are talking about.

Faster broadband will be good when HDTV movies start being made available to download through an online service like iTunes, etc. Downloading 10+ gigabyte movies takes a lot of time on a basic 3mbps cable connection.
