Well today is the Winter (not to be confused with the Pontiac) Solstice, the shortest day of the year (actually they all are the same 24 hours, but anyway...), and the beginning of winter. It's already been more than cold enough around these parts that this is just an official designation, but on the sunny side, for folks in the southern hemisphere, today marks the start of summer. So for those of you down under... surf's up!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Sublime Solstice, Joyous Kwanza, etc. to everyone -- we're flying off to exciting and temperate Wichita, KS tomorrow (relatives) and won't be back until next Tuesday.

Today is my last day at work until the New Year, I think. Merry Christmas to y'all if the old dial-up isn't working when I get home (phone technician was at the house today running a line into the computer room). Neighbors moved out last night and are leaving town today - no more free broadband at the homestead.
