Being on Steam and being piecemeal, it already has two strikes against it.
That itself is speculation. On both fronts. If they're willing to delay the game to make it better, then I'm fairly confident in Ritual's ability to deliver. Being piecemeal is necessarily bad? Television has always followed the episodic format and even some movies.
The first strike of being on steam is debateable as steam does eliminate some potential buyers but their fan base is loyal and likely to the buy the game regardless of it's quality.
The second strike is very valid because TV episodes form a season. They are presented regularly (weekly) and as pointed out earlier when they throw in a pause to that season viewers leave the show.
The episode format that sin is proposing would be a small portion of a tv show's season and throw in breaks inbetween every third(?) episodes. (or level, or whatever you what to call them.)
Seeing that viewers of TV shows don't stick with a TV show when there is a longer than usual break (as little as a week), it's definitely a hurdle they have to get over.
I want a Nintendo Revolution controller TV remote.
