There have been a lot of rumors in the Internet concerning DVD/CD writers malfunction after installation and star-up of StarForce protected applications. Some have even mentioned that should such “malfunctioning” drive be placed in any other PC without StarForce protection installed it will fail to work as well.

After the installation and start-up of StarForce protected product the problem with (CD/DVD read-write malfunction) must exist and be reproduced in any other configuration.

There are posts about dvd burner drives that totally cease to work, ones that cease to work until a firmware upgrade, ones that cease to work until xp is reinstalled, etc.
Well funny you should say that... Before my CD explosion incident which ruined the CDRW drive, my cdrw drive had been acting up. At one point i could burn cds with WMP, but not with Nero or any other writing software, and then the drive just stopped working completely as an RW device. This continued for a while until i updated the firmware (granted i did sorta mess up as i updated the RW drive with my DVD drives firmware, but i quickly sorted that out) and even then it was very unstable in it's use.
Its interesting to hear that other people had the same problems i did.
