You remember in Combat mission i think it was where you had a pause, you gave commands to your men, then you pressed play and your men act out 20 seconds worth of action?

MAXIS use to have a game for teh Amiga that used this forumula for gameplay That was really fun. It was called Robosport.

I just played this demo. Damn good i think.

It's almost like a 3d JA2.

Except there's a big difference. You remember in Combat mission i think it was where you had a pause, you gave commands to your men, then you pressed play and your men act out 20 seconds worth of action?

Well thats what happens. It's good, it works, but the one major problem is the fact that there's less control over your men i believe since if a new enemy suddenly appears, you're powerless to do anything about it and as such have to trust the AI knows what its doing.

This looks like it could be a brilliant game, but im not too sure because of the way they implemented the turnbased system.

Your correct I was wrong there it is turn based in space battles. And Chip yes I do like SS and the expansion sentenals i think it was called. trully a underated title.

Also Paraniod I am with you on Aftershock, what a game sheesh, just dont come to this thinking its exact like X-Com, Its better IMO, Its like the Next game that should have been released in the X-Com series, better graphics, The Alien threat has progressed to the point where they have taken up residency on Earth, pretty much the same game mechanics as X-Com, but I think they nailed it perfect.

Is that Russian during the cut-scenes? I didn't have time to play it or even attempt to start learning the interface. I'm also too busy playing UFO Aftershock. Best game I have played all year, even with the bugs.

edit: far too early to be posting, guess I should have hit spell-check.

SR2 is really good.

But the regular space battles are not like SC2, because they are turn based, whereas they were real time in SC2. The arcade space battles are more like SC2, I would say.

Is what Ill give this title, while it performs pretty well, I was taken back by the graphics, esp the background.

Oh btw I clearly numbered from 1 to 10 and said from top to bottom which means 1 to 10. meaning I play Ufo Aftershock & Space Rangers the most.

Didnt know why that confused you but its all good.

SpaceRangers2 defies description, but I'll try. {cracks knuckles} Its a persistant universe that gives you command of a starship in which you partake in various missions that have you Tradeing goods ala Elite or Freelancer,Fighting Space battles ala StarControl 1 & 2, Fighting ground battles ala Command & Conquer, Exploration and mining of planets, you also will take part in adventure game modes where you will have stats and decisions to make with multiple choice selections just like standard good adventure games use to offer.

What havent had enough well theres more, you will also take part in asembling a crew or team of Rangers that you can call on for assistance, Also you can build your own starship from the ground up including hull type , weapons, sheilds, gas tank, engines, and alot of esoteric parts that can be retrofitted to it.

Wait theres more, you will also take part in Arcade space battles ala galaxian and still theres the fact that you get to Role play your character with several stats to build up.
whew almost done here, you will also have to make moral desisions to either join the good forces to fight the evil or try to join the evil or Do nothing about the conflict and go about your game the way you want without having to do any missions but the ones you want.

And there are other Rangers in the universe that are trying to do the same thing you are doing.

Graphics are great sound is great and the universe is changed everytime you want to start a new game from scratch.

What are you waiting for? Do what ever you have to do but get this game.

1. UFO Aftershock + Space Rangers2 {tie}

Wow, I had never even heard of Space Rangers, but it looks like a pretty nice TBT. Ill have to give it a try.

UFO Aftershock gets on my nerves, its too Fallout Tactics-ish and doesnt feel like strategy so much as a shoot em up.

I really shouldnt dl this cause im commited to UFO Aftershock atm, but im a whore so i will allow myself to be used like a cheap sucker for every tbt game that comes out.

Oh I like other genres to.

Now playing from top to bottom of what I like most.
1. UFO Aftershock + Space Rangers2 {tie}
2. FEAR + rFactor {tie}
3. Dragonshard + Guild Wars {tie}
4. BF2+ exp
5. Civ 4 + Farienheidt (tie)
6. Quake4 + DefenseAlliance2/unreal4 mod {tie}
7. Nexus Jupiter Incident

Holy crap, I thought it would never happen. I thought this project was defunct. Very much can't wait to try out this demo for some good JA-style turn based tactical action. Between this and H&S it's a good time to be a TBT player.

-DSR <--prays that JA3 and JA:3D don't suck (or at least one doesn't)

EDIT: over 1GB? now thats just mean!
EDIT Part 2: It's not available on any of the U.S. mirrors yet either. Guess I'll just wait till tomorrow until fileplanet has it. Damn!
