Out of the Blue

Today is Black Friday for those who attempt to shop in the U.S. today (we tried this once... Once!). What we did do today was spend a lovely morning with my dad and step-mom (and the doggie's Uncle Sparky), who all spent the night after Thanksgiving. Everything went very nicely last night, and a good time was had by all. I even got a helpful lesson in turkey slicing from my sister-in-law, and I even managed to avoid completely mangling the bird in my debut as carver.

R.I.P.: Pat Morita, 'Karate Kid's' Mr. Miyagi, dies and Football legend George Best dies.

HEHEHEEEE!

Awesome job on the Stubbsy brain-tunes, All! That Voltaire song reads like it could be one of the mission-outlines

(I should probably point out that rather than being an actual song, mine was just a dumb spoof on "If I Only Had a Brain" from The Wizard of OZ ... in case the tune doesn't come across in writing somehow )

Anyway, I finally had to say 'screw you' to the apathetic brick-and-mortar set around here and just put in an order at Amazon.ca. At least this way it'll just show up someday and I can stop bugging people about it (in theory)..

Picked up the soundtrack too, and wouldn't ya know it -- If I Only Had a Brain is one of the tracks! LMAO! Very silly

Should have it Wed. Can't wait.

She was in BloodRayne as well. I would think she would have learned her lesson after her first Uwe Boll film.

Hehe... Also, it's directed by Dr. Uwe Boll. I feel I can, with a high degree of confidence, predict that this movie will suck.

EDIT: I just noticed that this movie has Kristanna Loken in it. Damn. As a norwegian, I may be legally obligated (By royal decree) to like this film.

No, of course not.

I don't know if anyone noticed this, but it says the action coreographer for Dungeon Siege is the guy who did Hero and House of Flying Daggers.

Now i'm not saying he's a bad coreographer, but his style of action, being oriental martial arts, would not fit dungeon siege one bit. Dugeon Siege is back to medieval style of fighting with no real huge technique, just a "pound and ground" style of swinging, none of this fancy spinning and all that.

Also i'm getting sick of every single action movie that involves some form of melee fighting to be done in an oriental martial arts style. Yes that style was cool when Jet Li and Jacky Chan did it and it was relatively new, but now, for me anyway, that style is getting old and the only actors who can pull it off now are Jet Li and Jacky Chan.

I mean think about it. How many medieval knights/infantry would have one on one fights, do round house kicks, take their eyes off the enemy to spin around, jump up and down like an epileptic kid like what happens in most martial arts films? None. They'd fight face to face, shield in one hand, sword in other circling each other, maybe ducking here and there but generally standing up and smacking each other as hard as they could.

Argh but anyway. I just hope it'll be an ok to decent film.

I just got home about 5 min ago, turn on the news, and immediately after I turn to chan. 25 (FOX news), I hear the words "Pat Morita died yesterday...". Fuck. No more Mr. Miyagi.

RIP Morita-san

taht taht taht, MI-YA-GI!

I'd love to personally strangle the holy shit outta Best if he was still alive. My dad was the second person in Southern California to undergo a transplant (on my 12 b-day) and died due to complications a month and a half later. Then again this was back in 87. But I just get soooooo angry to the point of causing an idiot physical harm cause they get a second chance and just throw it away.

Anyway, hope everyone had a safe Turkey Day, and I figured I'd save Florida from another Wildfire and didn't cook a turkey, sooooo if anyone has any leftovers, preferably dark meat or a drumbstick, I'll cover the Fed-Ex cost

George Best... meh. Shame when someone so (relatively) young dies, but still... as someone else mentioned, two livers, both fucked because of what he did to himself.
Yup. Though what carried him off was an infection as a result of the transplant, not additional drinking on the new liver.

The man was a great footballer, to be sure, but he was also an alcoholic womaniser and that sort of thing is not to be idolised. I am sorry he is dead of course, but the press coverage has bordered on the nauseating at times.

Michael Brown, starts disaster planning firm. I was thinking of adding a joke here but I really cant top that first line. This has got to be a scam to pay off Brown for takeing the bullet for Bush Inc, it will be all of Bush's buddies that hire him. Either that or the 'disaster' they are referring to is what to do when the stable boys dont show up for work and the horse shit is starting to pile up.

That the new 2 dvd SE edition? I've got that and need to watch it...

yeah, that's the one. the extra footage is great but the controversial soundtrack change is a little distracting at times. certain scenes it's fitting and actually more appropriate, but others it just seems wrong. a little goofy at times too... the scene where johnny and ponyboy hop a train, there's a song about a train; the scene where they go to the chursch, there's a song about moving into an old rundown house, etc... just a bit too literal at times.

other than that, i give it a solid thumbs up. i'm sitting through it again right now with one of the commentary tracks, which is great, btw.
