If I wanted to play a combat game, I'd go buy a combat game. PoP is not a combat series, it's supposed to be a puzzle game with combat as a way to break up the puzzles(so important, but not the defining factor of the game).

Hmm, dunno if you can really say what PoP is supposed to be. Seems to me that the developers make that choice. Personally, I liked the enhanced combat. The combat in the first game was pretty half-assed (walk into area, enemies keep spawning in, you use the same move to kill them all repeatedly until they stop respawning, move on). If you are going to include combat at all, it should be good and WW's combat is definitely better than SoT's. As for puzzles, I didn't really notice any significant difference between SoT's and WW's. I did notice that the platforming segments were more challenging in WW, which is a good thing. As for storyline, yeah, I agree that WW had a weak story and an annoying protagonist. But as I said before, I don't really care much for superficial aspects (and storyline is definitely superficial in action platformers) so it didn't bother me too much.

God, it is really annoying how everyone rants about WW sucking horribly...

The SoT did this well and gave us a beautiful story at the same time, setting a new high bar.

WW got that backwards, it put a great emphasis on the combat and neglected the puzzles, and gave us a crappy story that can best be defined as "I smolder with generic rage"(as taken from Tycho). WW may have sold better, but that's because they made a combat game and sold it to the combat crowd - there is no question that it's a worse game than the original. It's like they make the perfect transistion to the 3D world finally, and then they took it away from us.

God, it is really annoying how everyone rants about WW sucking horribly. It's almost as bad as people refusing to play space sims or racing sims without cockpit views. Sure, WW may have been inferior to SoT in terms of ambience and style, but in terms of actual gameplay (the thing that matters), WW is superior to SoT, hands down. Deeper, more complex combat with more variety and depth, better, less formulaic level design, more challenging and interesting bosses, etc. People who played the WW demo for five minutes like to whine how the whole game is purely combat, which is simply untrue. Sheesh.

yep, the whole 'darker' theme of ww was uncalled for... its a prince of persia game dammit!

sot was much, much better.

looking at the movies, the whole 'evil prince' concept looks like a bad omen that they will follow in the footsteps of ww rather than sot.

shame really...

I tried playing the second 3D PoP after playing God of War and it just wasn't possible. GoW has ruined me for every platform/action game for years to come....

"The last PoP(WW) game sold better than the SoT(though it scored much lower)"

The average score for the PC version of SoT on Game Rankings is 90%, and 81% for WW. Lower, but not by much.

Sands of Time had something that they won't incorporate into their games again, and that was taste. That game had class all the way through. Good design and story telling (without interruption to gameplay), the whole thing was a masterpiece. Breaks my heart about the sequels.

The last PoP(WW) game sold better than the SoT(though it scored much lower), so expect this one to be more like WW than SoT.:( It's a shame people like this crap(WW) over good work(SoT).

At least this is going to be the last PoP title for a while.

I didn't like the last PoP game. I loved Sands of Time and the original side scroller games. I need a demo to see if I like this one.
