Morning Q&As

  • X3: Reunion
There's an X3: Reunion article on Computer and Video Games with a brief article-format Q&A discussing Egosoft's imminent space combat sequel with scriptwriter Andrew Walsh: "We've all seen a war film where a soldier takes out a photograph of his sweetheart and you know he's going to die. It's a cliché, but one that's necessary to convey the horror of war. If you just see people getting shot, well that could be horrific, but it's when you get to know that person before they die that it affects you. You've got to feel that there's more at stake in X3 than just numbers, and when you meet the people who are in danger, it adds emotional depth."
  • Havok
Gamecloud's Havok Q&A talks with Jeff Yates about the Havok physics engine: "More and more it seems that physics is finding its way deeper into core game-play and into the game engine itself. We see many developers using collision detection for example as a means of enabling the game’s AI – like for detecting when a character comes into view – by testing for collision against a cone-shaped viewing volume. There is so much room for even more elaborate uses of physics like this. We’re definitely excited to see where things go in the next year on the more powerful platforms that will be launching."
  • Postal Movie
The Postal Movie Q&A on Gamecloud talks with Running with Scissors' Vince Desi about the Postal movie: "I met with Uwe a few times, visited him on location in Vancouver where hes shooting Dungeon Seige [sic], and I like him. We talked alot [sic] about the movie and game business, and how we are both not exactly saints in our respective industries. Bottom line he really does get it, he has a great appreciation for what POSTAL is really about, and he eagerly welcomed us to work with him on creative issues such as the script and casting."

Is there a title for the Postal movie yet? I suggest Falling Down (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0106856/).

The only real question left is this: Will the Postal movie be worse than Manos: Hands of Fate?

No.
Compared to M:HoF the two movies of Boll, which I have seen, are masterpieces of modern art.
No matter how many bad movies you have seen (and I don't mean bad like Ed Wood), M:HoF is simply
Teh Worst Movie Evar!!1!eleven!

I can just see the Postal movie being vapid pish trying to cash on noteriety and (manufactured) press angst, with a suitably incoherent nonsensical plot, overacting and with all you'd expect of a film from possibly the worst director since Ed Wood.

Oh well.... let's wait and see.
