FEAR does have some variations in the paths you take while you play the maps. Many of the air ducts are optional or offer an aternative path. Meh, compared to Farcry it's a railroad shooter. It's nice I can take a duct to go from A to B, but I still need to go from A to B before I can go to C.
In Farcry, I need to from A to Z. I can choose to do so by going A, B, C, D, E .... Z, or A, D, F, N, Z, or simply ignore everything altogether (well, maybe not EVERYTHING), and go from A to X to Z.
There is stealth if you choose to play that way. The AI is susceptible to one-punch or rifle butt knockout if you catch them offguard even on the highest AI difficulty setting. Alright, I haven't really played it far enough yet to see that for myself. But in the end you most likely DO have to kill everyone in the level. You don't have to in Farcry. You can easily do the first level, for example, without ever firing a shot.
While such automatic pistols exist in real life, if they were automatic here there would not be enough difference between the pistols and the machine guns, and then you would be complaining about all of the guns being the same (Oh wait, you already did that. ) Oh shush
I'm talking about the fact that the pistol doesn't keep firing while I keep the mouse button pushed, though. It still has a very slow rate of fire, but is very accurate. Pretty much every other shooter lets your pistol keep shooting because of the mouse button, it annoys me that it doesn't in FEAR.
