Here's the announcement, which sets the release date for the add-on as October 18:
Microsoft Game Studios announced today that the highly anticipated expansion pack to the best-selling Zoo Tycoon 2 has gone gold and will be released on October 18. The expansion pack adds a spectacular new chapter to the wildly popular Zoo Tycoon 2, featuring 20 rare and exotic new animals, a dazzling new sky tram, and elevated paths and guided Jeep tours that take players closer than ever to their animal habitats.

Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species expands upon the highly acclaimed Zoo Tycoon 2 for Windows with new building options, new music and awards for successful installations in your zoo. Behavior modifications allow guests to express themselves more creatively, and new deviant animal behaviors are sure to keep fans on their toes. Makes me want to rub peanut butter all over myself and have sex with a Universal Combat box while fantasizing about Derek Smart.

Be sure to fill Derek's Excitement Meter while you're at it. Hot Coffee!!!!

Captain Pompous Ass (aka Picard) would be seriously upset at you guys for breaking the Prime Directive, btw.
(watching all TNG episodes in succession, and yeah he gets on my nerves sometimes...)

It's so hot when a man says "penal".

Yes, that's clearly the first thing that comes to mind when considering the possibilities of earth-like planets. Oh and of course that would totally screw with that planet's eco-system, but screw them.

I'm hoping one day that space travel can solve this. I envision an earth-like type planet dedicated to all the species. Visitation rights could be granted to ppl subjected to a background check (no cruelty to animals charges). In another solar system we could have a penal colony for criminals who have hurt/abused animals.

He cut the possum's face off then cut around the eye socket. In the center of the belt buckle, where the possum's eye would be, he has placed a small piece of wood from his old '52 Ford's home made railroad tie bumper. Damn, he misses that truck.

So, like, can you shoot the animals then?

P: I think so, Brain, but where are we going to find a duck and a hose at this hour?

Have to agree and disagree about zoos. The ability to keep endangered species from becoming extinct while maintaining a habitat close to their norm is kind of cool...

but after going on a few safaris I think that just keeping them locked up for your viewing pleasure is a little cruel.
