Battle Carry Trial/Server

The A Few Screws Loose Website (thanks Frans) now offers downloads of a trial version of Battle Carry, their "action oriented deathmatch game featuring high speed tanks and powerful secondary weapons." Different from the Battle Carry demo (story), the trial contains the full version of the game (in effect making this a Ships Ahoy story as well), with a demo mode that "features the Chapel level and some new content." The trial can be unlocked to the full retail version of the game via a key that can be purchased online, though sales of keys are being held off until they clear up some problems with their online store. There is also a new accompanying demo server.

because its one of those shitty installers that insist on using the C: drive, which doesnt have enough space

I just installed it on my D drive - just type in the name of the folder where you want it installed. The installer is not as slick as an InstallShield installer for sure, but it works fine.

graphically its on par with Treadmarks
This I don't agree with. Battle Carry at least has animated treads on the tanks, and overall the graphics and textures are a little better than TreadMarks. However, it is not a quantum leap over TreadMarks, and the tank handling is absolutely worse. TreadMarks is playable. Battle Carry is not.

Downloaded and played it for a short time. Seems very, very unfinished. Tank physics/handling feels horrible, graphically its on par with Treadmarks...a six year old game which at least had destructible terrain as an excuse for their low-res textures. The terrain itself is bizarre in spots. I commend anyone who takes a shot at putting out an indie game but these guys need to be realistic.

If you want to s how a small indie game should be done go here: http://www.warworld.net/

You downloaded the demo, rather than the trial. You can get a link to the trial from the forum.

The video they released looked like a lot of fun. Ive managed to get the trial downloaded but havent installed it yet, because its one of those shitty installers that insist on using the C: drive, which doesnt have enough space.

I played on the only demo server available at the time. It was a pretty bad experience though, and the other players on server agreed with my assessment of the game.

Until the controls and handling are improved, this game is a definite pass for me. ThinkTanks is a better multiplayer tank game than this one, and I am not that big on it either.

Is anyone else unable to connect to any servers because of a version mismatch type error? I say three servers, but every one of them gave this error and wouldn't let me in.

Full Disclosure: I know these guys in real life, but I don't work for AFSL.
Then please pass these comments on to the developers. While I normally love multiplayer tank games, and this one looks like it could be a good successor to Treadmarks, the control and handling of the tanks is amongst the worst I have ever seen. The tanks control poorly, and they tumble way too much especially given the hilly terrain. The aiming and turret control is also very imprecise.

Without much improvement, the only battles being carried on are in the title of the game. Battle Carry isn't worth $10 as it is, let alone $20.

The video was done weeks ago, so these bugs shouldn't be in the game anymore.

Anyone notice that they left some debug-session dialogue in the video for the trailer?
"Josh having the floating tank problem again"
"It's his router config."

"I think he's looking out and being just out of range"
"there isn't an out of range but I see what was wrong"
