My take on the video showing the controller in action was that they were bound to show it in that over exaggerated way because it gives the viewer something to actually look at.
They weren't showing any games at all, it was all about the controller. So given that, it was hardly going to make for an interesting watch if all they showed was someone sat in their seat with the controller barely twitching.
In reality it's going to have to be usable like that, but it isn't attention grabbing, so they over cooked it.
