What engine is DNF using now? Is it the Doom 3 engine or UT2004? If it is UT2004 it's going to look a bit dated...

but the retailers do not just make up any date they want.
My friend, if Amazon can promise investors profitability for seven years, but instead burn through hundreds of millions of dollars in losses, I think they would have no moral issues whatsoever with making up one measly release date lol!

Umm...it's La' Inq. See: irony. See: humor. See: Total bastards that want to stir up trouble.
I presume the date is (currently) wrong, it sure is a short window of opportunity for the people in PR to broadcast their insanity, but the retailers do not just make up any date they want.
So the question is who gives the retailers their dates?
At one point, that was the release date, but like many games (and obviously this one,) the date is, er, outdated and the publisher random, mysterious people that supply the retailers with release dates has not given Amazon a more current date. Unless it was restarted again, the current DNF should be pretty far... Loving those bastards at La 'Inq :o, Ray

We don’t believe that Amazon plans to trick its customers - it's not its style and the customers can sue if it fails. Now THATS what I call journalism!! a major company would never lie!!!?? I also really like how it says "release dates are subject to change" on Amazons own page! so actually the inquiering inquirer here actually has more faith in Amazon than Amazon itself! GG!
Oh, and would you look at that, Joe Siegler of 3DRealms confirms they're all talking out of their asses. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=960968&an=0&page=0#960968

Until it comes from 3DR DNF does not exist.
Nothing news worthy here.... move along.

Well, yeah. Especially if people hold onto the ten year mark.
In all honesty, that tose ten years are spent on, at least, three different Duke Nukem Forever games.
I said it before and I said it again - I will take a proper 3D port of Duke Nukem 3D and will have a blast with it. If 3DR can make something as interesting, much less better, then it will at least succeed with me on the game front.
Though, yes, I think 3DR would be a great cast study on the pitfalls of game development and, at least the first 90% of the development time, how not to interact with fans/press/customers.
At this point, I am glad the company has stopped the shit-talking and would just give a minor update on what, simply, is going on. I want to talk to GB. Does he see how he has acted? Or is he just quiet? Worshipping the Duke :o, Ray

I'm not interested in DNF and never have been. DN3D was a amatuerish pastiche of better movies... Ok, I can agree with that
... better games. Huh? What better FPS were out at the time that D3D stole from? Unless you want to keep fighting the long dead D3d vs Quake fight (remember that one, guys?), I think you'd be hard pressed to convince most people here that D3D sucked. (at least those of us who played it new)
I think what Sixis said was true (the D3D part...we part ways on the Christ thing It's not going out on a limb saying that most people here enjoyed D3D when it came out.

Almost 50 posts and no one comments on the sub standard pricing? The price screams budget title, but is a little higher than this, which seems to imply they think they can get away with it since its an urban legend.
$44 US is a budget title for you?

I'm not interested in DNF and never have been. DN3D was a amatuerish pastiche of better movies and better games. All the lines are stolen. The whole vibe of Duke Nukem in FPS is like an adolescent patchwork of 'ooooh that was a cool movie, let's have him say a line from it'.
No way, no thanks.

Duke's gonna come out, and it's not gonna suck - it's just going to be another middling FPS, and it'll fade away like Unreal 2, and people will wonder what took 10 years and then forget about it.
There's no way the game will live up (either in it's goodness or it's badness) to the incredible amount of publicity, anticipation, history, and infamy surrounding it.

What I always wonder is, when it's finally done, will we ever get to see the 5 or 6 versions that didn't get released? (so we can second guess 3DR until the end of time)
Maybe they could bundle those in the 'platinum edition'

You know what's really, truly, abysmally sad? I'm still interested in playing this game, and so are all of you FPS fans, whether you admit it or not.
DN3D was that good and we all know it.
BUT, I still think they deserve to be publically mocked for human history's second biggest piece of vaporware (coming in first would have to be the 2nd coming of Christ).
The Quake 4 thread didn't make 200 posts, but this one will.
