EA’s FIFA Soccer 06 HITS STORES ACROSS THE WORLD

Best-Selling Soccer Franchise Is Now Available in Europe and Hits Shelves in North America on October 4

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – September 30, 2005 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS), the world’s leading interactive entertainment software company, announces the release of FIFA Soccer 06 under the EA SPORTS™ brand. FIFA Soccer, one of EA’s top-selling sports franchises, includes major enhancements to the gameplay and management modes, making FIFA Soccer 06 “The Total Soccer Experience.” The game is available in stores in Europe today, and worldwide the first week of October.

FIFA Soccer 06 delivers a combination of attacking gameplay, complete customization, the deepest Manager mode ever, and pure authenticity. Intuitive gameplay enables you to command every move of your player with pinpoint accuracy. Passing, shooting, and tackling is now more responsive than ever and enables you to trap, shield, and dribble like a world-class soccer player.

Freddy Adu, Ronaldinho, and Omar Bravo are featured as the North American cover athletes and represent the global depth of this franchise. Adu exploded into the world of professional soccer as the youngest U.S. athlete to sign with a professional sports franchise in the past 100 years when he signed with Major League Soccer in November 2003. Ronaldinho was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2004 and played an integral part of Brazil’s 1999 Copa America team at the age of 19. Bravo is widely considered to be one of the most exciting young players on the world stage. He is already a key player for his home club, Chivas Guadalajara, and is now starring for the Mexican national team.

FIFA Soccer 06 was developed by a multi-national team of soccer aficionados at the EA Canada studio in Vancouver, B.C., and is shipping on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft, the Nintendo GameCube™, PC-CD, PSP™ (PlayStation® Portable) handheld entertainment system, Game Boy® Advance, and Nintendo DS™. EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer 06 will also be available for mobile. For further product information please visit: www.fifa06.ea.com

I personally don't like the EA FIFA Franchise it doesn't really capture the spirit of Football. Pro Evolution Soccer on the other hand does the sport justice.

I will buy Pro Evo Soccer to satisfy my Virtual Football needs.

FIFA sucks. It's a truckload of old bad routines with a new number (2006) slapped on. Worthless pieces of software. EA should be ashamed of themselves for producing bad version after bad version. Easy money huh? I take Konami's PES4 anytime, THEY at least know how to get it right. A supreme soccer game in all aspects.

It's too bad that EA has the general sports gaming population snowed into thinking EA sports is 'where it is'. It's amazing how many people will flock to a game because it's on TV, and even more assume that a name associated with it (Madden, for instance) makes it pure gold.

Does that mean no other Game Company can create an NFL Game ?

Or does that mean that if a Game is created then they can not use the real player names ?

I think they can't make an NFL game at all. They can presumably make an American Football game (I don't imagine the rules are "owned" by anyone) and call it NFA (National Football Association) and use nearly real names (sorry, can't name any American Footballers to give an example, but footballer (real football) Steven Gerrard would become Steve Gerald or something like that).

It's sucky, but if the game is a hit like PES, 3rd party patches will come out. There is a PES4 patch out that uses the superb FM2005 data to create real teams/players, for exaple.

Really... Why do people bash Fifa06 for being made by a certain company? How many of you have already played the 2006 version? I guess its kinda cool liking the underdog..

I have played FIFA for the last 12 years and since FIFA 95 the series has went totally down hill. Also if you look at sales in the last 2 years then EA's FIFA is the underdog.
