but am I the only one that wonders when the next one, the third one, is coming?
Most meteorologists expect 6 or 7 more hurricanes, some of which are already spawning off the coast of africa.
Now, normally the odds of two such powerful hurricanes in a row is pretty small, but Rita grew frighteningly in size once it reached the caribbean. The caribbean sea is currently so damn warm that it's just one big furnace for those fucking hurricanes.
Nothing to do about it except ride it out.
Honestly, I just keep on looking at how huge that thing is. It is all a joke, right? It cannot be that big, can it?
Yup. The caribbean sea just keeps adding moisture to it. When I was in Cancun, we'd have clear mornings, and within space of an hour just absolutely HUMONGOUS clouds would form. Not storm systems, but clouds that were literally 10-15km high. Just goes to show you how much moisture is being pumped up by the ocean.
If it keeps to its predicted path, however, it shouldn't be AS bad as with Katrina. There isn't a humongous swamp and the largest river in the US waiting to add to the misery on the texas coastline. But it will dump an ungodly amount of rain and wind on Texas and Oklahoma and probably the surrounding states (although I do expect it to lower in power severely once it's completely over texas).
Note to people in Corpus Christi and Houston etc: EVACUATE. Go to Dallas and beyond for the weekend.
Good luck to all of you who are on the coast, or have friends or family there.
