overall immersion as Half-Life 2 did.
The conspicuous lack of first-person limb and arm models ruined the immersion for me. It's even more evident due to the high quality texture work on the third-person models. When objects the player is supposed to be picking up float about in front of him as they do when using the gravity gun and there are no hands on the vehicle steering wheels, that kills the immersion. Valve spent millions of dollars and many years developing the game, and it can't have its modelers make a complete set of animated first-person models for the one character you play as through the game? I expect that from a budget title, not one widely proclaimed as "game of the year."
Aside from Steam, Half-Life 2 is a decent game with plenty of repetitiveness, but it's not great. This comment was edited on Sep 13, 12:35.
