ALL game developers/publishers limit the use of products by its paying customers, not just Valve. The difference is only one of degree of deterrence.
Which is exactly what I meant by "needlessly." I have written about this at length several times before. I see no reason to write volumes on the subject of acceptable usage rights and limitations every time it is brought up.
But advocating piracy just because you dont like the company's business practices just dilutes your complaints.
I don't advocate it. I just don't oppose it. I would prefer that people simply shun Steam games or if they must play them, do it at an opportunity like I did which doesn't reward Valve financially for the experience. In addition, similar acts of unlawful disobedience against businesses which engage in immoral or offensive practices have been an effective means of protest throughout recent history. Valve will never change Steam so long as significant numbers of people continue to pay it for using it.
