The textures are kind of rough.
If you are going to comment on the HL2 xbox screens, atleast view them on your tv. Unless you play your xbox games on your monitor.

It doesn't look THAT bad FFS. Granted, they put some textures in place of higher poly counts on the characters and buildings but overall it looks ok. If you want to see a bad port for the console go take a gander at FarCry.

Gotta give consoles props for platformers and sidescrollers, too.

The only thing that consoles do really well are fighting games. Everything other genre pretty much is better on PC in my opinion.
I'm quite sure that the high JPEG compression is, at least to some degree, to blame for this awfull picture quality.
LOL yeah, I love how they say HL2 on Xbox looks "absolutely fantastic". Yeah, looks pretty good if the last games you played were based on the Quake 2 engine.
