Gold - Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy

Atari's Innovative Cinematic Thriller 'Indigo Prophecy' Goes Gold (thanks Frans) is the press release announcing that development is complete on Indigo Prophecy, Quantic Dream's episiodic mystery/adventure game that will be known in centigrade-oriented Europe as Fahrenheit. Word is:
Indigo Prophecy is developed by Quantic Dream, and will be available for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft and personal computers running the Windows operating system in Europe on September 16 and in North America on September 20.
"Indigo Prophecy blurs the lines between video games and cinema and introduces a completely engrossing experience not yet offered by other games," said Marc Metis, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Atari, Inc. "Indigo Prophecy's riveting storyline and innovative cause-and-effect gameplay should make it one of the sleeper hits of the year."

'Indigo Prophecy'? By 'Quantic Dream'? Why does this sound more like an experimental acid-trip ambient album than a game?

Don't bitch about the name, everyone should play this game, it's brilliant. It's the 'Beyond Good & Evil' of 2005. Sadly the American version of the game will be censored, due to Hot Coffee. No sex in the game for the yankies, unless you import it from the EU ofcourse. We like sex over here.

Erwie, are you joking or is the game actually going to be censored? If so, I'll be cancelling my pre-order and importing the EU version.

Also, you are right that everyone should definitely play this game but because it isn't Halo, it will likely be largely ignored and like BG&E, be a financial failure. Everyone complains they want innovation and then ignores the innovative titles. Atari's marketing ineptness doesn't help either. I hope I'm proven wrong though.

No i'm not joking. David Cage, the director of the game, said that on the GameFaq's Board. The ESBR requested them to remove the sex scenes in the game and even remove them from the DVD entirely. The thread got deleted though, because of unclear reasons.

After having seen the scenes, i'm not suprised. It's not that you see anything happening, it's just as in a PG13 rated movie - but this is a game and then it's a problem.

You might want to wait for confirmation by Atari or some US reviewer. I'm also not sure if Europe really gets it uncensored, because the game got delayed a week. But I think that has no relation.

Yup but that demo is hardly more than five minutes of game time.
Just buy it.
It feels and looks kinda like Shenmue with good audio.

I see. So on the one hand real people are saying it's good and on the other hand a reviewer is saying it's good.

I'm conflicted.

Checked eurogamer and they talked about button-mashing action interludes. I think I'll wait until it hits the bargain bin.

EDIT: It feels and looks kinda like Shenmue with good audio.

Yup, definitely waiting.

The PC demo has the usual "hasty conversion from console" crap for its interface and textures. It's just astonishing to me that this kind of nonsense means that in spite of my PC's vastly superior rendering and resolution, I'll be purchasing on XBox or not at all.

Adventuregamers seems to confirm what you already stated here, no adult content in the American version:

That doesn't make much sense. The PC version allows for higher resolutions than the console versions, so why would you want the X-Box version?
