Are you kidding, that would mean he would be a catholic. To pat I bet thats like being gay.

He's a fucking riot...shoots off his mouth and then denies saying what we have on tape.

Yeha every few months that nut says something totally off the wall, I think his last tirad was something about nuking the State Department or something to the affect.

Otherwise he'd be out there suing for wrongful dismissal.

AFAIK, Colorado is a right to work state. So you can be fired for any reason your employer wants -- including silly reasons like this. Your only recourse is if they fired you for some reason that's illegal under state or federal law (basically discrimination of one type or another).

For those unfamiliar with the right to work concept, the flipside of this is that you cannot be forced to join a union (no union only shops allowed), and generally the restrictions your employer can place on you are pretty limited -- they can make you sign a non-compete clause, but it's bloody difficult to actually get a court to agree with the terms if it comes down to it.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. There likely some facts about his story that pizzaboy conveniently left out. Otherwise he'd be out there suing for wrongful dismissal.

Because, what he really was, was a pizza delivery boy. In that case, eating just a few slices of Pizza is kinda stupid.

My guess is that there reasons other than this for firing him -- either he other problems (either with policies, people, or performance) or the company wasn't doing well and they used this as a pretext for firing him.

This kind of thing happens all of the time where I work.

This happens all the time at all the places I've worked at, and the food is always "up for grabs" once the meeting is over. Usually it's put in a breakroom or something to make it obvious though.

If the pizza had been bought with the employees own funds, that's one thing. But even then, firing him over it is a bit absurd -- heck, I'd buy an entire pizza.

My guess is that there reasons other than this for firing him -- either he other problems (either with policies, people, or performance) or the company wasn't doing well and they used this as a pretext for firing him.

And the Rehnquist thing is unfortunate. It's been long in coming though, so I imagine his family isn't too shocked. As for what'll happen next w/ the nominations -- I think Sixis more or less hit it on the head. Katrina has weakened the president just like Andrew did his father.

This whole Supreme Court thing should be quite interesting. I fear for the future of the more salient liberties that are available in the US (or emerging ones) if GWB gets it wrong and the whole thing gets too conservative.

Chief Justice William Rehnquist died Saturday at age 80.
Behold the power of prayer.

The reference here, for those that don't know, is that the crazed Pat Robertson has been praying on his show for god to free up another space on the Supreme Court so that another new justice can be installed by Bush.

It's late, so I doubt I'll get a response.

This kind of thing happens all of the time where I work. There'll be a training course or something and they'll order an obscene number of pizzas. Of course, lunch comes and goes and there're 2 (sometimes more) pies just sitting there.

Another fun thing is sandwhiches. They'll bring up a LOT of sandwhiches because they don't know which kinds people like. So then there's always a lot of tuna, roast beef, and sometimes turkey (if we're lucky) left over. Sometimes it's like 8 or 10 sandwhiches, a few cans of soda, and a couple of small bags of chips.

I know many a co-worker that turns these into their lunch. Heck, I know people that will take some food home for later.

I can't say what would happen to the food at my place (since we always evenly devour it). But I know some places that actually just throw the food away. I mean, how stupid is that; "Hmm, here are 2 perfectly good pizzas and 10 sandwhiches. Let's throw them out!" So we don't give them the chance

Man, I'm glad I don't work at that guys company. Then again, I'd only have 1 or 2 slices (depending on if I had breakfast). But I'm not the only one.

Poor Hubble, so they cut the system down to one gyro hoping power lasts until mid-2008.

No. They cut one gyro going from three to two gyros hoping the power will last.

Let's do the math: Basically Hubble has to outlast this Presidency while we sit and hope the next bloke will approve funding. That bastard.

No. It has to last long enough for them to either fix the space shuttle properly or build a new ship (which is not going to happen). That is why it was not fixed a year ago, because it was considered too dangerous with all the trouble the Space Shuttle(s) have been having.

Have to agree here, summer was wayyy too long. Not only can I not wait to start college again, also autumn brings out the best in beer (don't know if any of you americans have heard of the variety Bock beer; it's a special sweetened beer with brown sugar that's only sold during the fall season).
