You need to pay EA to put the band screaming "IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE" in every single baseball game you ever think about playing.

The Bravery thanks you for buying that game.

edit: I now have The Bravery cranked in your honor.

12 cents to make a CD and ship it off, yes.
But you need to pay for studio time.
You need to pay for art.
You need to pay for the guy driving that shipment.
You need to pay for the producer.
You need to pay for the marketing.
With most of todays shitty music you need to pay for MTV airplay.
You need to pay EA to put the band screaming "IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE" in every single baseball game you ever think about playing.
The store needs to make money on top of it to pay rent and salesmen.

12 cents to print a CD. Lots more money to actually put music on that CD.

So the label is the one you should be telling to "fuck off".

Well I'm all for that!

And yeah, I know most musicians never make it big, and that most do make their money off touring anyway because of the labels' insane contracts.

I don't mind paying for music -- but it'd be nice if the artist actually saw the money instead of the f'ing label execs. And most of the artists wouldn't be trying to screw over their fans (aka consumers, aka us) like the labels are trying to do with their overzealous lawsuits and miserable failures at draconian copyright protection.

Most acts make their money from touring, not from album sales. The record labels end up with most of the money from album sales, not the band.

Myself personnaly i think musicians should be paid for concerts and live performances ONLY! Making millions off of cd sales is rediculous.it cost's 12cents to make a cd and ship it to a store yet i pay near 20$ per album. So the artist takes a year to make and produce and album yet they rake in millions for 1 years work. All i can say is FUCK OFF. work for your money like everyone else.

1, the vast majority of artists DON'T make millions. For every Stones and Springsteen, there's hundreds or even thousands who are broke.

2, typically, it's the label that owns the recording, not the artist. So the label is the one you should be telling to "fuck off".

So if you create a work of art, should you only be paid a one time fee? Or should you be paid for each person who wants to view it?
