Thompson Watch™

Jack Thompson Tried To Arrest My Boss on Game Revolution has a little follow-up on the controversial attorney's recent claim that he's received death threats (story), pointing out the AIM Icon that apparently comprises one of these threats. Thanks Frans.

With each Thompson story its becoming more and more apparent that he's going to have a public meltdown at some point.

<announcer> On the next episode of Celebrity Breakdown... watch your favorite media whores blow a gasket on national TV! </announcer>

[edit: forgot to mention that the Thompson Watch idea is cool. Nice one, Blue.]

It's simple. The media loves a circus, and its the clown who is its star attraction.

Although I bet Jack is lousy at making those little baloon animals.

Yeah yeah, like I said, both parties love censorship. Now, I'm a flaming liberal myself, but really all I am is a person who can read the consitution. Whether or not the founding fathers could actually live up to what they wrote, they wrote it, and it's the foundation of this country. Were some of those rights just for show? I don't know. All I know is they're right there in black and white, so that's what I have to work with. I used to think that made me a conservative, but as it turns out I'm not.

I understood from Warhark's post that on issue's on censorship, O'Reilly would oppose the moral majority (TM) and go the traditional conservative route. That is also, however, why I said he wouldn't be able to do it, he'd alienate too much of his neocon fan-base.

Face the facts: Democrats love censorship. Republicans love censorship. China loves censorship. The USSR loved censorship. If a person can gain or hold a power by supporting censorship, they will probably support censorship.

Vote Sharpton.

I want to see him and Bill O'Reilly go at it.
wait a minute, all this stuff is a Conservative initiative.
O'reilly might actually AGREE with him in principle if not in degree.

a couple bio items on Thompson the Conservative:

In 1988 Thompson was the unsuccessful GOP challenger to Janet Reno for the Office of Dade County State Attorney.

In 1992, Thompson represented Oliver North's Freedom Alliance at the annual Time Warner shareholders' meeting

he was named a "top ten" censor by the American Civil Liberties Union, Thompson states on his website that he considers the ACLU's 'award' a badge of honor.

and on and on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_(attorney)

Both Thompson and O'reilly are Evil Conservatives!

Wow, that Jack Thompson .gif rocks. It is SOOOO going on my website/blog.

Hey, anyone know where you can get a car window decal of Thompson being ran over like that? Maybe have Calvin pee'ing on his corpse?

Speaking of Jack Thompson, I heard he is suing over that new movie they made about him without his consent. What was it called? I think Steve Correll from the Daily Show was in it...

hmmmm....

Hasn't Christopher Walken done voices for a couple of games?

Seems to me like if you guys voted him into office, he could just order up some wet-work on ol' Jack.

O'Reilly infuriates me, but I would order an O'Reilly vs. Thompson match on pay-per-view... Unfortunately it can't happen, too many O'Reilly viewers fear videogames.

Both political parties have seized on this opportunity to make themselves look good, and unfortunately it seems to be working.

Anyway, I propose a Sharpton/Schwartzenegger ticket for 2008.

I'm honestly wondering what's up with this guy. Either he's being spoofed by various people (that would hardly be new, although spoofing someone while filing an FBI or police report falls under the "brain dead" classification) or he's a complete loon that's fooled a lot of people (namely the mass media).

The various interactions that have allegedly occurred with VG Cats, Game Revolution, et. al. pretty clearly paint a picture of someone who is just not with the rest of reality. But everytime he's on TV, in press, etc. he comes off as sane and reasonably intelligent -- I certainly do not agree with his beliefs or conclusions, and he certainly uses invalid arguments to make his case (as several judges have shown), but these two faces are pretty drastically different.

Yes, you can talk about media conspiracy until you're blue in the face, but hardly all of the TV shows have been complementary toward him -- if this stuff was true it'd be pretty easy to show how loony he is. Which is why I come back to wondering if there's a lot of people out there spoofing his identity to make him look loonier than he really is (again, since I whole-heartedly disagree with his beliefs I already think he's out there... it's just a matter of whether it's the moon or another galaxy).
