Game ran fine on my system at 1024X res with everything apart from AA up max. X800, AMD 1800, 1.25 Gig of Ram. Chugged at times when changing areas, but during fights it ran smooth.
Ok, as for the game...
Scared me... I like scary games and this did a good job... but... but... There was something just not quite right. The little girl scared me at times, but others seemed forced and pushed onto me. She should have been a
little bit more like the G-Man in HL in that she isn't to close that you can shoot her and she walked by without getting a proper look at her.
I enjoyed the combat and the slow motion, very well done, though I found myself wanting to dive around like in Max Payne. I found myself enjoying replaying sections of the demo (due to fucking BSOD issues since I installed my new video card!!!!) something that I didn't enjoy doing in HL2 (couldn't get past the first half hour of Doom 3, it bored the shit out of me).
The radio chatter from the bad guys was lame though. I think that the radio chatter was done A LOT better in HL2. I found the radio chatter to be a bit canned and no where near as cool and immersive as that found in HL2. The lines are cheesy and the audio effect that they did just doesn't pull it off properly IMO.
The way your character model interacted with the water was done poorly. If you looked down, it always looked like you were walking on top of the water yet you had to have been knee deep in it. They obviously couldn't think of a way to make it look like you were knee deep in water. Same problem occured when walking over bodies, you didn't jump up on top of them, yet it appeared that you were standing on them... it was kinda weird. I am however, willing to forgive little gripes like that for the fact that I can actually see myself in this game, it's nice to look down and see legs for a change!!! Also, seeing your own shadow is AWESOME and adds a lot to the ambiance of the game.
The plasma gun effect... AWESOME, even better then the one found in HL2. Loved seeing the blue swirls around the baddies when I shot them, great touch having the skeletons land on the floor.
Weapon noises... REALLY well done, especially the hand gun, very loud and powerful sounding without being over the top.
I'm a bit worried that I'll get bored fighting the same soldiers over and over again though... though there was a bit of variety in the demo, I'm worried there won't be enough in the game.
Any of you guys decapitate a guy? I was kicking around some guys head for a little while, pretty morbid!
Anyway, there are my rants and raves for the game.
