Ray: "It did enjoy the fear aspects, thank god it is psychological fear unlike Doom 3's "hiding in a broom closet, about to jump out" fear, and cannot wait to see what else the game does"
You have to admit it does resort to a few cheap tricks though: The little girl appearing as you're climbing down the ladder, followed by the guy appearing at the bottom. Spooky, but very reminiscent of the whole "monster in a closet" thing. I'm being reminded of Doom3 a lot here in terms of the plot, and that's not necessarily a good thing. Hopefully it won't devolve into a "Monsters from helll!1" cliche. Personally, I don't feel empathy for any of these characters yet. There's not enough back story and the voice acting is really cheesy. And why does the main baddy want to eat people anyways? Wasn't he taught that cannibalism is impolite? And why do his underlings just stand around while he does it? Are they waiting for their turn at the table? Did they forget their forks? Just makes some of the plot elements seem to lack context for me, as opposed to being entry points for a scary story.
That being said, and even though I'm a demanding gamer, I'm still looking forward to it.
