Well, I've given this a shot. The game itself seems like it'll be pretty cool. The AI is definitely impressive, as is the psychological fear they are trying to create. However, this engine doesn't look nearly good enough to justify its horrible performance and ludicrous system requirements. My desktop is a 2800+ with 1GB Dual Channel and a RADEON 9600XT. Runs Source (and every other game that's come out recently) smooth as silk. This demo auto-set me to 640x480 with most details either at off or medium. I overrode it and set it to 1024x768 and it isn't playable. And aside from some effects, I don't think this looks any better than Source. I also put it in my brand new laptop which is a Pentium M 730 with a GeForce 6800 Go 256MB and all it did was 800x600 with the same effects settings. No way I'm giving them money for this unless they really polish the engine. I do plan to upgrade my system hopefully by the end of the year, but I definitely won't be doing so for this title. I can't see how they expect this game to sell a large number of copies if only the most hardcore, wealthy gamers with uber-systems can run it well. I'd really love to play this game, but I'd rather not give my money to Monolith for a sloppy engine.
