DOOM 3 Chess

Thingk, Ltd. (thanks Planet DOOM and Ant) has the release of DOOM 3 Chess, bringing the strategy of DOOM 3 to the violent action of Chess (maybe I have that backwards, but you get the picture).

Yeah but it looks like Quake 2 if Masamune Shirow had designed it, while working on Appleseed, but had been told to make it look just like Quake 2 but with the Doom 3 engine. I think the Shirow comment is entirely justified in that respect. Ahem.

Someone should tell these hosting companies that seeing a "User's Bandwidth Exceeded" message is NOT good publicity for a web host. It makes your company look greedy and unresponsive to customers' needs.

The "System Shock 2: Rebooted" mod team moved on and are now doing a FPS/RPG Doom 3 mod called "Sapphire Scar" with similar elements from System Shock 2.

Ah, thank you very much. It is now bookmarked. Perhaps my investment in D# will pay off after all

Last time I heard, EA(owners of the System Shock rights) gave the authors of the mod a "cease and desist" letter.

The "System Shock 2: Rebooted" mod team moved on and are now doing a FPS/RPG Doom 3 mod called "Sapphire Scar" with similar elements from System Shock 2.

I'm keeping my eyes open for this one.

And for the EA vs SS2:Rebooted, you read the full letter at:

where is that System Shock 2 mod?!

That is something I try not to think about. A SS2 total conversion in Doom 3 HAS to be too good to be true.

No, the server is up. Just checked that out. It does seem to be quite interesting. Hopefully it turns out well, as it looks like they've put quite a lot of work into it.

But the mod I'm really waiting for is Quake II:Lost Marine by The Mean Arena. And, it looks as though their website/server has already crashed.
