Battlefield 2 Server Released, Patches Today

The Battlefield 2 Website now offers downloads of new Windows and Linux dedicated unranked servers for Battlefield 2. Meanwhile the WOLFGaming Network Forums have details on the client patch, which is expected at 3:00 pm Eastern Time today. Word is that the netcode is a major portion of this update, and the new release will address networking issues, as outlined in a recent community update (story).

Good, cause I stopped playing it 2 weeks ago due to all the bullshit and trouble finding servers that aren't completely full or completely empty. I hope the patch has gamespy support finally.

He cut the possum's face off then cut around the eye socket. In the center of the belt buckle, where the possum's eye would be, he has placed a small piece of wood from his old '52 Ford's home made railroad tie bumper. Damn, he misses that truck.

It should, but at least I know now why I was getting the 'stuttering' when going to diffrent parts of the map, the game was loading shaders on the fly.

Screw the browser -- the "Play Now" button has been 100% successful for me so far.

'course the other day it took so long to find a game that I had wandered off and cooked and eaten a complete meal before I came back and realised that it had been connected for the better part of an hour while I was AFK.. but at least it works!

I honestly believe the 'Play Now' button and desktop icon are pure evil. With the exception of the first day of release i've had no problems with the server browser.

It does hang for short periods of time though which is annoying when you join 4 servers in a row that became full since you refreshed.

Not a major problem.

A problem they don't appear to have fixed is the right mouse button activation for the scoreboard if you have rmb bound to something else (such as jump like me).

And why shouldn't they get points for this?

@8 -- it took 8 comments before it was said, great job.

Hopefully this will be the patch that stops the game from playing like a strobe light on 32 player servers.

Spec Ops currently *don't* get points for blowing up enemy equipment, which is the point of the post. They should get points for it, but they don't. Seems worth including in a patch.

I think a lot of the stuttering might be attributed to the server's themselves. Some of these places might be trying to bite off more than they can chew.

The effort to run a 64 player server is a noble cause indeed because my M249 needs more targets (similar to how Walken needs MORE COWBELL!) but if it can't do it just fess up and scale it back some (Gamespy Arena, ECG, and ArtofWar I'm looking at you!). The netcode could also be sloppy and not handle it very well. I have been on a few 64 player servers that do run fine but often if there's one person with an abnormally large ping it impacts everyone.

Regardless, it's a pretty fun game but Kubra Dam and Fushe Pass stink as far as maps go.
