BF2 Ranked Servers Status

The Battlefield 2 Website (thanks Frans) has word that the influx of Battlefield 2 players has resulted in delays in updating the results of games played on ranked servers:
As many in the Community have noticed, stats updates are taking about half a day to be reflected within BFHQ at this time. EA, DICE and GameSpy are all aware of this issue, and we are working promptly to make headway against the back log while also ensuring that this issue does not recur once the game has reached shelves all across Europe tomorrow. Rest assured, however, that we will keep pace with the demand for Ranked servers, as necessary, though we may slow down deployment slightly this evening as we clear out the backlog of stats snapshots.

We want to emphasize that no snapshots have been lost and once we have this issue addressed, all players' progress will be accurately reflected in BFHQ. We thank the Community for their patience as we solve this issue.

Don't be an idiot, EA has had guys playing on ranked servers since last year testing the game out. DUH infact I have see guys on Xfire since november 2004 playing under the flag of BF2.

Yes thats how some players have 5000points.

I'm not impressed with OFFFICIAL RANKED SERVER situation with BF2. BS!@# Our Clan has a T-3 unranked we can handle 48 player just fine!!! EA--- Let clans register their servers, dont force them to pay for a RANKED AOW server that dont WORK and SUCK WHEN THEY DO!!!

I have an Athlon64 based server running in a data center with 3 100megabit pipes for bandwidth. How can I make my server a ranked server? I've been trying to get more info on this for the past several days but everything I come accross says that I have to rent a server from EA if I wanted it to be ranked.

Oh god it's amazing... It seems both parties are arguing about the lag and both are wrong... TA-DA!

I thought my first post in the thread covered this but let me say it again. The lag in the game is server side... The game is not broken, the clients aren't ill equipped. Neither. Like I said in my previous post the EA servers are a bit laggy because... err, because it's EA. I have been playing on some private, but also ranked, servers that don't give you lag spikes and play just fine.

So once again let me reiterate, [most] clients are fine and are capable of playing the game without lagging, the game is not broken it does not require a patch... SOME OF THE SERVERS ARE LAGGY AND CAN NOT HANDLE THE GAME AS THEY WERE INTENDED!

and all you EA bashers, god damn doesn't it ever get old? you people, i'm so sick of listening to you whine.

Then keep buying EA's games, tolerate the problems they have and read something else. I'll continue to voice complaints about EA as long as they keep doing things like this. And trust me, I'm as sick of watching EA apologists as you are of people like me.

Parallax, for someone who hates this game so much, why are you even considering purchasing it?

Or are you Tumblers Arch-Nemesis?

As tempting as that sounds, no. I don't hate this game at all. In fact, I really loved the demo. I am just not planning on purchasing this game until they release one or two patches to fix all the bugs I knew would be there. I have just found it funny that after 1942 and Vietnam and the launch issues they had, everyone ran out and bought BF2 immediately and then complained that it was full of bugs. EA doesn't need a QA department because they know everyone is just going to buy the games at launch anyway and then the community's complaints will tell them where the bugs are. EA is the way they are because the gamers let them.

Most tech support lackies seem to know little more than the people asking where the any key is.

It's that large key with no markings.

I'm with Zeph.

If DICE is admitting there's a problem that needs to be patched, and 95% of the Bluesnews board, many of whom are much more intelligent than your average tech support guy, are having problems, odds are there's a serious problem.

And, if DICE says there's a problem, I trust them over the lucky few finding decent servers.

LOL!

Anyone here ever see the movie Office Space? This guy reminds me of the fat guy in that movie.

"I'M IN CUSTOMER SERVICE! I TAKE CARE OF THE DAMNED CUSTOMERS!"

and I don't think. I know. So does almost everyone here. We all know what we have you pathetic arrogant cretin. If you take your head out of your ass for just two seconds you might realize that there are a lot of smart people here. But then again, if you were smart you'd already know that. I guess you're just a case for the Darwin Award for this thread.

THE GAME IS FUCKED DUDE! They're going to patch it because it is fucked. Just like they patched the other Battlefield games because they were fucked. Now if you would just get fucked once in a while you wouldn't be such a complete asshole. Fuck.

I don't give a flying fuck what you think you have or you know. I work in tech support and I hear from assholes like you ALL day long where they think it is always our fault and never their computer or their own stupidity.
If I'm not having problems and your dumbass is, then it must be something with you and not the game... Retard.

I don't know what kind of crappy connections/computers you guys have, but every server I have played since the retail release has been smooth and without problems. I think that this lag you guys are receiving is client-side.

Dude, you're a fucking idiot. Most people here have broadband connections. The people who play FPS games are usually dedicated upgraders who have top-of-the-line systems. And while my Asus A8N-SLI-Deluxe, Sata Raid, 2Gig Corsair, Athlon 3500+ 939pin, ATI X800XL system isn't the very best it will still handle any game on the market.

When people say that the games are laggy, THE GAMES ARE LAGGY. Your ignorance is not excused.

The ranked servers are an obvious move by EA to take over a service that's already provided by someone else. The only incentive they have over something like ngstats or csports is the unlocked weapons. I've played on unlocked servers, and those weapons are pretty damn amazing. Anyone complaining about underpowered weapons should definitely check it out. It's a shame EA are being so greedy as to make it difficult to play the game the way you want to, but that's no surprise.

So... These ranked servers and stats (excuse my ignorance)... How much better are they than ngstats for UT that was released like 5 years ago? : )

Your ignorance is excused. Besides just trackign stats, the ranked servers allow you to unlock certain weapons in ranked servers.

And I don't know what kind of crappy connections/computers you guys have, but every server I have played since the retail release has been smooth and without problems. I think that this lag you guys are receiving is client-side. Say what you will, but I doubt that I have just been lucky when picking servers and I've just been playing in perfect servers within a mile from my house.

IF the Ranking Server scoring is based on nothing more than amassing points then it's worthless, it can only ever favour the people who stay online the longest time. Even a dweeb who gets two points every game and plays 100 games a week will outrank genuinely skilled players who can get 30 points in five games a week (and so on.)

As if we the people dont have enough monthly bills, hope somone mods the crap outa this and we can all avoid the stats crap.Stats are nice but as a person for the people i think they can shove them in their ass. There charging way too much for stats per month anyway!!!All this pay to play crap is adding up for gamers lately.Better boycott em quick or this is gonna overflow into mainstream gaming in a hurry!Nothing worse than having corp hands in your pocket all the time, trust me.FUCK YOU EA! Also like to add that the only quality servers ever were not EA's,infact EA's sucked so much ass that i refused to play on them for BFV.They only servers that are fun 90% of the time are owned by private guys.So i see most of these guys wont be paying the amount sony wants, thus sony has nuked alot of its core fans already.Nice job

The lag issues are server side. I found a server I like very much that is almost always full with 64 players and 0 lag. I don't want to give the name of it because it is hard enough to get a slot without all you guys :D. I can't play on any server but it, all EA, GameSpy, and the other multiple server companies "Sweet Gaming Dudes Server #34 [shh it's EA]" are lagged right to shit. Despite being lagged these servers are always crammed too! I don't understand how people can tolerate it. But me I have probably logged over 8 hours already on the lagless server and the admins their tell me it's because it's a beast! Someone needs to let EA in on the fact that if you are going to host a bunch of servers don't put them all in one room withone connection in and one connection out for them to all share. I can see it now... "THESE ARE THE LATEST AND GREATEST IN POWERFUL GAMING SERVERS..." as they cram them into one room and cripple them with a single connection to the rest of the world.

As far as the ranked stats and servers and whatnot. Nobody should be shocked at how bad is it currently. I don't think any company prepares well enough for the amount of load on launch of a game that requires/has/uses stat tracking. WoW got killed in the first 3 days though as seen, it has been taken care of professionally. I think DICE won't let their game that they know has a huge fanbase go down the toilet cause of these issues and will work extra hard to get that patch out and server issues aside for the stats. I'd give this game a week at least to sort it's shit out.

A game that was hugely-hyped, promoted, anticipated, and (as usual for EA) rushed out the door now has glitches and reports of seriously laggy performance?

let me put on my "shocked and amazed" face.

I predicted every one of these problems, which was pretty easy after playing the demo. Didnt the same thing happen with WOW? and almost every other "big" release? As soon as you force people to log into a central account server to keep track of everything you're creating a bottleneck. And it's only going to get worse this weekend when it goes on sale in Europe and they try to do the same thing.

Thanks EA for maintaining the status quo!
