Picking this up when I get home from work. I'm very excited to see how the other maps turn out... Just not excited about the load times I Imagine I'll have

Also for my fellow old guard BNers: if you are interested in gaming on a tactics based server where squads and communication is the rule check out the Tactical Gamer servers. (tacticalgamer.com) We had a community game going last night that was one of the best times I've ever had in a FPS. Everyone was in a squad following orders and working together, we had competent commanders and a freakin' good time.

Creston, you have no faith do you? Just be glad Fredrickson isn't here to usher in the "new era" of gaming

Sounds good nin. I grow tired of the Rambo-like TKing of most servers.

been playing the clone... it's hot. all single player maps limited to 16 players (im wondering if there's a way to unlock this?) but the maps are excellent and the game runs well on my p4 2800 1gig ram and ati 9700... so I'm happy...

Now to grab the real game and play some multiplayer!

I'd be more excited if they hadn't butchered COOP and single player support as much as they did... sigh.

None from me, that was a one-day thing.

Although DICE did miss their announced release date of Spring 2005, and everyone here really should be whining about how their main developer is a lying sack of lard, but what can you do?

Yesterday was my first time when I was in a squad where everyone communicated everything (using the command system) and actually listened to the capable commander.

It was the best time I ever had on a virtual battlefield

I'm excited for the full game, as I have been playing the demo since it came out. However, I'm worried that the full game will be just as unstable on my system. It's very rare to go any amount of time (20 or 30 minutes?) without crashing to a blue screen and having my speakers make that horrible noise.

I'm running an Athlon64 3200, nForce 3 setup with a 9800 pro. I have the Catalyst 5.6 drivers. I know there have been recommendations to switch back to the 5.1's if 5.6 doesn't work, but it's not like I'm getting any graphical problems or glitches, just severe system instability. Has anyone else encountered this kind of problem? Has anyone else found the solution?

I love playing the game, but I hate rebooting all the time...

OMGWTFBBQFTW !!11!

Hey, it's not every day a half decent FPS comes out that hasn't been played to death for 8 years and 1000 mods. Maybe you guys can go back and fire up Quake x, RoTT, MoH:AA, UT, BF1942, CoD, RTCW, DoD, or whatever else you've played. But once I get sick of a game, there's no going back.

Creston is the resident Blues News Realist

And just wait for Tumbler to find this, then you'll get your 100 OMGWTFBBQ!!!1! posts

And it's just shipping to stores today, a few stores MIGHT have it on shelfs today, but tomorrow is the street date.

As for the singler player, the maps are only set up for the 16 player maps. But someone did post on another forum, that they had edited the 16 player map control points to the 64 player map control points and the AI worked. As I was sad to see that only the 16 versions would be playable in SP.

I ordered a dvd of this game and got an email this morning saying the product "was no longer available." Despite the absurdity of that statement, I also notice ea site doesn't offer it. But then, eagames does? Does anyone know if they bothered to burn this thing to dvd or not?

I thought it was the same for me, but after giving up CS back in like 2000 I returned to CS:S this year. 4 or 5 years between and a new engine, but identical gameplay and idiots.

That is the problem, though. I am very sick of BF2 after playing the demo for a week or so. Won't buy the game based on that, I know I'm just very tired of it. A large part of that comes from infantry feeling useless and slow. Didn't appeal to me.

I'm probably jaded because I'm tired of it, but I'm surprised to see it getting such high reviews. It seems like no one is ever willing to fault the high-profile games in major reviews. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this game isn't a 9.5, but San Andreas doesn't deserve the praise, considering it adds nothing useful to Vice City, only a bunch of mindless chores like working out. Doom 3 certainly didn't deserve the ultra-high scores it got when it was first released. HL2 was the best of the bunch, but some reviewers put it better than HL. And, jumping on a common theme around here, Far Cry was a lower profile release and got lesser reviews when released, but beats all the above games and holds its own against HL2...

The Tactical gamer demo server was set up for 64 players. Last nights community game had about 50 on from 9pm to midnight EDT. Server rules are brutally enforced at Tactical Gamer for all of the games that are played in the community so there isn't a lot of room for frag monkeys (I play CS:S there a lot). It's all about the team play and cooperation. They've been pretty forgiving to me while I learn the ropes. And the server rules for BF2 are still being worked out.

If you want to take your game to a cooperative/competitive level I recommend the TG community or something like it for BF2. The game is just absolutely brilliant when it's played the way it should be.

Beamer, try gaming with a community of like minded players. You really wont go back. The TG CS:S servers are what got me hooked on the community. There's nothing like popping into a new server and hearing, "OKay guys, here's the plan." and then seeing people follow through with it. As for BF2, like I said, public play and community play make TWO different games.

Yeah, I can see myself getting sick of BF2 at some point as well. That's why I only played the hacked 32-player demo map in single player mode, to practice with all the weapons and vehicles before the real thing comes out. But for now it's either this or maybe a RTS game. I'm done with RPGs for a while.

Oh and.. status: On FedEx vehicle for delivery
