No, I took out all the fat guys, but that's right, I completely forgot there were invisible guys. They might have been right on top of me.

You can get a Radeon 9800 for just over $100 that will run the game nicely. Activision and Id require an ATI 8500 for Doom3, so is it a big deal that you now need a 9800 for agame that has come out almost a year later?

I did the chair thing after the second attempt. It works, I wait until the big fat guy is outside the second door, open the first, wail on him with the chaingun, and watch him fall, but when I eventually step outside I kept dying instantly by guys I couldn't see. Two or three thwaps would kill me before I could even locate a target with the binoculars.

Well, there's more than one rocket guy. There's about 7 or so. Just keep popping out to "wake" them, then run back and let them come to in front of the door and kill them.

Then, when you go back outside, there will be several of the invisible jumper trigen, whom you'll need to spot with the cryvision thingies. Easiest way to do this is to crawl to the edge of the crater, then whip out the goggles. Once you find one, turn off the cryvision and focus on where he's at (you can faintly see their outlines), and nail him with your sniper / rocket whatever you brough.

There's three or so of them, but they're pretty easy to kill.
Another advantage of the chair thing is that you can go back and get some more health from that room (since there's 300 or so).

That oughta do it

And, jaded as I may be, FEAR multiplayer is complete garbage, at least in the beta form. Garbage, among the worst I've ever played. BF2 was great fun for a short period of time, FEAR blew from the first instance. I've said it in a few dozen threads already, so I won't repeat, but it mostly has to do with weapons being overpowered, everyone dying before they know they're being shot at, and endless cycles of killing the guy that spawned before you by killing him in the back while he's reloading only to be shot in the back by the guy that spawned after you while reloading, only to have him killed by being shot in the back while he's reloading, etc.

I would be looking forward to this, but EA and Dice decided to alienate a large percentage of game players by not supporting "older" video cards. While I can play graphically superior games like Doom 3 and Far Cry, I cannot play this graphically outdated game. With this ignorant move, they are driving me away from PC gaming for good. Why be FORCED to spend $300 on a video card (and another $300 for a new CPU/mobo) every 2.5 years when I can spend $300 on a console that lasts for five?

I am extremely bitter about this, but screw all of you.

Most of the times when I've pre-ordered at an actual EB store, pre-orders have gotten it on the day it ships, before it actually goes on the shelves. But it looks like this time EB isn't handing out pre-orders out until it goes on the shelves.

I pre-ordered mine from Gamestop which shipped last night with FedEx. The arrival date is listed as tommorrow (Weds.)

This is perfect timing as I received my brand new Radeon X800Pro and my new MoBo yesterday plus I don't have any work scheduled until the middle of next week.

Sometimes things just work out

Ya. I was wondering if someone was going to catch that one. When I think back to memorable FPS games, that one comes to mind. Jumping around firing missiles, definitely a unique gameplay experience for me. Although I've found it's best to remember the game as it was in the past rather than try playing it again... kinda like trying to fire up Bard's Tale for the C64 and seeing how crappy it looks.

the split rocket was the most fun and challenging to use... but watching a trenchcoat wearing machine gun blazing funk-nazi get wailed on from both sides at the same time... priceless

oh and what about god and shrooms mode? shooting orbs of light at the enemy while chuckling at the enemies plight?... techno colors freakout... who the hell came up with THOSE powerups?

a freakin' genius that's who!

How do the preorders work at EB? Are we supposed to get it today? Or do we have to wait till Wednesday to pick it up?

if you cant handle playing against actual people

I love how people do this... People view the world from their own point of view, so when THEY can't handle playing against actual people, they think that's the only reason others enjoy huge fragfests with bots.

I played a ton of Excessive UT CTF, and only one other person around at that time could match me (and damn we made a good team), but omfg was it fun to load up some bots and play on 'beyond' godlike.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro or Thrustmaster Top Gun Fox 2 Pro, but anything else in that price range w/ a hat is under consideration

I've been using my Logitech Extreme 3D for some time now and love it. It's a pain to set up the buttons initially, but after it's all said and done I wouldn't use anything else (except maybe a force feedback stick).

Ok, guy under me who things F.E.A.R demo on FP kicks ass is on crack. That was a POS demo right off the bat. Dunno what game he was playing.

You have to remember though that Tumbler once cut the tail off a puppy so he could pump it easier. He sees things in a different way from most folk & yet he believes that he is normal and his way is right, even though he liked the Fear Demo & most of us won't be cutting off puppy tails. I think we all realize that's what duct tape is for.

I've been using my Dual Shock 2 for planes and helicopters. Works wonderfully for the former but i get the feeling its just lack of experience with the choppers, im equally as crap in the GTA:SA choppers. I still use the keyb/mouse for tanks/apcs etc cause otherwise i cant aim the weapons.

*sigh* Must admit i am jealous of all you guys on the other side of the atlantic playing this. I've gotta wait till at least friday, but Amazon will probably deliver on sat. Dont spose anyone here knows of some good UK servers, hell even EU servers that play the team game (like the US ones talked about below)?

Oh and on my x850 XT PE the 5.6 drivers are perfectly stable. Only quirk in the game so far has been crashing on the menu screen when playing MP and today the game decided to wipe all my controls clean, i mean literally wiped clean, i loaded up the MP and couldnt move. Bummer is now that the mouse doesnt work and neither does the ESC key. Very strange.

And Creston, somebody in my head told me I wasn’t being jaded gamer bitch, as you can see with my brief discussion with myself, so I’m just going to go with that. My second personality knows what he’s talking about most of the time.

Never listen to Teh dark voicez!!111one!!!

I then rolled back to my very old driver (don't know what it is, but it was new back in Nov 2004)

Well, that would make it the 4.11 then. They have a pretty convenient numbering system. The 4.11 was a quality driver. Alternatively, try the 5.4, which so far has been rock solidly stable with my X800XL with every game I've tried it.

anyway, i'm pissed about the lack of coop... how hard is it to include coop when you already have the AI for the singleplayer? this kills our 3 person lan parties. hopefully someone comes out w/ a mod right quick.
