Quake x, RoTT, MoH:AA, UT, BF1942, CoD, RTCW, DoD, or whatever else you've played. But once I get sick of a game, there's no going backI thought it was the same for me, but after giving up CS back in like 2000 I returned to CS:S this year. 4 or 5 years between and a new engine, but identical gameplay and idiots.
That is the problem, though. I am very sick of BF2 after playing the demo for a week or so. Won't buy the game based on that, I know I'm just very tired of it. A large part of that comes from infantry feeling useless and slow. Didn't appeal to me.
I'm probably jaded because I'm tired of it, but I'm surprised to see it getting such high reviews. It seems like no one is ever willing to fault the high-profile games in major reviews. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this game isn't a 9.5, but San Andreas doesn't deserve the praise, considering it adds nothing useful to Vice City, only a bunch of mindless chores like working out. Doom 3 certainly didn't deserve the ultra-high scores it got when it was first released. HL2 was the best of the bunch, but some reviewers put it better than HL. And, jumping on a common theme around here, Far Cry was a lower profile release and got lesser reviews when released, but beats all the above games and holds its own against HL2...
