Out of the Blue

MrsBlue and I had a fine old time last night celebrating her birthday (she says thanks for all the birthday wishes!). There's a new local seafood restaurant in our area that she's been eager to check out, but there are all of about eight small tables in there, and we'd heard that dining there inevitably entailed a wait of 30 minutes or more. The ugly weather, however, played right into our hands, as it kept enough other patrons at home that we were able to breeze right in. The bad news is that my steak (I'm not a seafood guy) was terribly overcooked, and I was spared the decision over whether to send it back since our server never came back to ask how anything was. On the bright side, apparently the seafood was up to the place's reputation, so the birthday girl had a fine meal, which is the important thing.

For those of us that do not actually worship mammon (As a socialist, I have been accused (repeatedly) of 'not understanding how the world works'), the solution to this whole thing is really simple: Don't feed cows to cows!

Seriously.

How those idiots ever thought that was going to work out, I just can't imagine..

"Hmmm... let's see -- these things have four whole stomachs for properly digesting plant fibers. I know!! Let's feed them cows" Christ human beings can be so freakin' stupid sometimes.

Still, I'm more than a bit pissed at having just learned that I'm going to have to give up my weekly brain and spinal-cord infusions

Not to mention a considerable portion of offal that had been designated BSE contaminated was acutally sheep bits, not cow. They didn't realise this until later. Nice that the researchers did their homework on that one

I particularly like when he was interrogating the fat, corrupt cop. The way he was just angrily shouting at him was so spot on..."DO I LOOK LIKE A COP!?"

Bale really nailed the Dark Knight aspect of it. And those shots of him crouched on the spires above Gotham were fucking amazing.

Anybody heard from Complicity lately? Our fearless Guild leader had gone MIA.

Rumor has it that he actually tried to storm the NCsoft building after they nerfed farming. I hear he started to cry like a little girl after the next update hit and pretty much killed skill farming.

Just had myself a few grilled burgers...mmmmmmm. So good I almost want to go out and cook some more!

Get the fuck outta here... Japanese may be xenophobic (I wouldn't know), but they'll eat good food, no matter where it comes from. (Say, for instance norwegian fish, which they eat by the boatload...)

I will guarantee you that the fisheries that the "Norweigan Fish" you speak of come from is Japanese run/owned. There are literally thousands of Japanese owned/run cattle farms in the US and Canada raising beef for export to their home turf. I'm sure there are a small number of non-Japanese farms whose beef/fish/produce make it to their markets but the vast majority is done for their own, by their own.

The UK has had a substantial amount of “Mad Cow” cows, 183803. And only 148 humans have been infected. 148 out of millions upon millions of people are a hell of a lot better odds than you have when you go driving to work.

The driving to work argument is what I use when people start talking crap about how bad drugs are for you or why you shouldn't get on an airplane.

Nin, likes the musical stylings of musical hardman Trent Reznor and yet... afraid of beef. Pitiful.

I, obviously, live in the UK and never stopped eating beef. I'm more likely to die of breast cancer than I am from JKD. Frankly either would be welcome as this whole life thing is proving to be most painful, oh my brothers.

OK you guys do realize that the only way you can get the disease from cows is to eat the brain and spinal cord? There is no way you can get infected eating the usual parts of the cow, ie ribs, flank, haunch ect. So if you are really worried you just have to stay away from food that uses the whole cow ie hotdogs, sausage and fast food ground meat (becuase we know they grind up everything for that crap.)

Yes, I forgot to tell nin that in my strive to get him to eat meat.

And one of those things I was talking about in proper nutrition and such is stopping the use of those parts as feed (the unused parts they grind up and feed it back to them).

hmm - thats weird... I stopped eating red meat about 8 years ago because it just started tasting bad to me. I dont know why, but it did... it just wasnt pleasing to eat. I became a reluctant vegetarian for about 5 years, then went back to eating white meats every now and then. I still do that - but only about 4 or 5 times a month.

nin - ever tried a turkey burger?? that shit is GOOD!

but Im also down with the soy-product meat substitutes too
