Wow! 2M Playing WoW!

World of Warcraft Achieves New Milestone with Two Million Paying Subscribers is the press release announcing a new subscription threshold achieved by Blizzard's MMORPG, with further breakthroughs expected when the game launches in China:
World of Warcraft recently surpassed the two million mark for paying subscribers. Already the largest MMO in both North America and Europe, Blizzard expects to see even greater growth with the recent commercial launch in China on June 7, 2005. Anticipation for World of Warcraft was already at an all-time high in China, with peak concurrency during the open beta test topping 500,000 players, nearly equal to World of Warcraft's peak concurrency in all three current markets combined. Blizzard expects to see the new mark of two million subscribers shattered quickly with the arrival of players from China in the coming weeks.

That goes to all you freaks out there with female characters in ANY game.

You've obviously never seen a female ranger dance in GW

Nah, I play a female Elementalist in GW simply because their armor looks a shitload cooler than the male ones. And I'll play a female character in RPGs where there is different content for them (think KotOR, Jade Empire, etc).

Creston

Edit : Creston, I guess the monthely fees are a matter of opinion. I simply compare them to other things I do each month that entertain me. I pay for cable TV, Internet connection, I go to movies, rent movies, buy magazines, play paintball, take my boat out, camp, hike, etc. All these things have a monthly impact on my bank account.

That's fair enough, like I said, your own opinion will vary. Most of your examples though, you pay JUST the fees. someone tell me that with 30+ million dollars coming in per month, Blizzard couldn't afford to just let people DOWNLOAD the game for free.
And, in this case, it's costing them a sale, since I refuse to pay full price for a game and then to NOT be able to play it. Seriously, what ever happens when they say "oh, we changed our monthly fee to 20, or even 25 bucks"?
You can quit, surely. And lose all your time. Or you can suck it up and pay them whatever they want.

If a MMORPG GENUINELY used that 15 dollars a month to improve the content and have grade A customer support, I'd be willing to pay it. One dungeon every six months is not upgrading your content, that's throwing a morsel. And from what I read, customer service is conspicuously AWOL from Blizzard.
The joker from Blizzard who said "We're getting there, it's HARD to support that many people!" sounds like my fucking boss. Hire more support staff, shitface. You're making 30+ million dollars a month on this game, you can afford a hundred extra support nerds at 28K a year plus benefits.
