Well that sucks considering my buddy is on the verge of dropping pc gaming over what he calls "constant upgrading".

hehehhe
Hardware for gaming is usually good for about 1.5 years.
A computer has a life with it's current hardware of about 5 years.

Crazy isn't it? We all have a very expensive hobby.

I have a Ti4600 and was unable to get it to work. Would seem you have to have one of the video cards listed earlier. Maybe someone else will have better luck

Now Fileplanet gets to see the reprecussions from making things "exclusive". Sooner or later your gonna get left out of the loop for one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

Well, the users always lose in the end so I guess it really doesnt matter.

well, for something with 24 hours of exclusivity, it appears to have quite a few mirrors...

What some of you idiots are forgetting or just too damn stupid to look up is that Gamespot has 24 hour exclusitivity

Funny. Cause there are other places to download it from!?
I currently see 9 places to download it from.

It's not really an exclusive when you only ask 3 sites not to host it and let everyone else go nuts.

Hope the demo still lets you play if you don't have a supported card. My buddy wants to run it with a Geforce Ti4600. His other specs are up to the task. Hoping he can run it on low.

Its not a goddamn rumor its on their website:

Attention loyal FilePlanet users, this is a public service announcement for many of you wondering why we have not hosted the Battlefield 2 Demo. EA Games has contacted us and asked us not to host it for a duration of time, and in respecting their wishes we haven't hosted it. We understand that many of you are having difficulties getting the Demo, and we're sorry that we cannot help you at this time. The best place to look currently would be EA's website.

Downloaded from FileRush in about 36 minutes. Installed.

Some annoyances:

For Nvidia card users, you have to install the included 77.30 drivers, or you'll get bombarded with an annoying message in the game.

Video options for me only went up to 1152x768 resolution... I have a GeForce 6800 Ultra and a 19" LCD with 1280x1024 native res.

Have yet to play the game, about to reboot after installing the included drivers.

Thank god for the newsgroups, thanks for posting whoever is doing that (too excited to remember any nicks now, sorry). Doubt I'll download it tonight, almost midnight here now. But tomorrow morning, lots of server will be up and I got the ENTIRE day for nothing but BF2 fun.

The only thing that can happen, or probably will happen since I'm looking so much forward to this game is:

A. I get computer problems, something happens and the computer won't work.

B. The internet gets deleted and demo is gone.

C. More likely is that the demo has compatibility issues with my AMD/ATI setup and won't run, or gives piss poor performance.

Guess I needed some amount of motivation....just ordered another stick of 512MB ram. This should hold me for a while at least. Price is almost half of what I paid for it when I built the system.

Supposedly, Fileplanet, X-Fire, and Yahoo are all banned from redistributing the demo for 24 hours.

This sounds like rumor to me. Fileplanet is usually this slow on these kinds of things. I'm a Fileplanet subscriber, but I use bittorent when I need something right now.
