No pressure sensitivity on PS1 controllers. I don't know if new PS2 usb converters support it or not.

I wish it opened up a bit more, but I really enjoyed it. Some of the humor is really great and I really, really enjoyed the Godzilla and Napoleon levels.

That was one of the best things about the game was the inventive level. The level for the bullfighting painter was totally amazing as well just in its art style. This game did have a couple of issues, but by a large, I really enjoyed it. It definitely had the amazing Tim Schafer touch. I hope that he will work on adventure games again as well.

I don't remember seeing anything from them during E3, but I wasn't too interested in it this year and therefore didn't follow it closely.

...if it is just "fixed" levels or new stuff, but I would suggest everybody try the demo and then buy the game. It is only $30 for PC and it is quite good.

It is not an amazing console game (unless you looke soley at the PC consoles,) but it is really fun and amusing in bursts.

I can gripe about the camera (FFS - let me control it!!!!,) the boring collection aspect of the game (did Rare make this?,) and a number of small design/aesthetic issues, but it is quite fun.

I wish it opened up a bit more, but I really enjoyed it. Some of the humor is really great and I really, really enjoyed the Godzilla and Napoleon levels.
Did E3 have anything from the company or is it dead already?
Thinking I would be game for an improved sequel,
Ray

Does the Psychonauts game play become less linear than the demo level? One thing I like about the 3D Mario platformers is that the levels are fairly open, and Mario has plenty of moves to let you solve the objectives in your own way.

The Psychonauts demo, and games like Prince of Persia:SOT and
Tomb Raider usually have one sequence of moves that will let you complete the level.

Yeah, get a GameCube to USB converter from a HK import webshop. I'm using a PS dualshock to USB joy adapter just fine.

I've been pondering on getting a gamepad too, but Xbox pads just don't cut it for me. Is there a GameCube pad adaptater?

lol Agreed. I don`t know who the supposed geniuses are making up this kinda crap, but they don`t know sh*t. They say the same thing about sims. That there is no market. There is a HUGE market. The sim community is alive and well.

What they do now... is just go for the easy money. The game devs have basicly turned into `hos. And as their integrity took a vacation, the cooler ideas in our gaming went along with it. We are now gonna see really awesome visuals, and shallower gameplay. Aaaah well. It was good while it lasted.

ANd who was the genius that came up with the brilliant idea of not allowing game-saves after a certain point?! Stupid, stupid, stupid.

That's because of consoles and the lack of developing time.

I am close to the end of this game and I have given up. Sometimes the controls are too frustrating - especially in timed situations (fortunately there are few). But that Butcher level is pissing me off.

Oh well, I have moved on to Guild Wars.

But Psychonauts is a fun game with TONS of originality and unique level design.

Yeah the connector is proprietary but you can crack that open and the wires match right up by color with a standard USB cable like what you might cut off an old mouse. Just a bit of soddering, download the XBCD drivers and go.

I just played the demo. I got stuck up to the machien gun part which I gave up and uninstalled the demo. Interesting idea. I didn't find the game funny, but it's nice for kids.

Nah it works fine with gamepads, I used an Xbox controler and XBCD. Some people just like to use a keyboard and mouse, fortunatly it seems this patch fixed the troubles with that.

Also, Arkay, the demo is really not a good example of the gameplay as it is just the very begining of the game. Once you start gaining psychic ablities the gameplay really takes off.

key board + mouse does not suit platformer game. atleast i am not having blast but game is different, in a good way.

They did not take the time to implement support for gamepads? I don't own the game but it's 2005 and companies like gravis have been making gamepads for the PC for at least 10 years now probably more plus they can be bought for less than $20! It's like making a space sim without any joystick support, just a bad move!

I'll never understand these companies, when they decide to make a sequel they'll say the sales on the PC where to low to justify releasing it on that platform bla bla bla...

I've been playing this game for a while now, and initially thought I was gonna be dissappointed. The first level (coach) is a total linear drag.
Fortunately, everything takes off from there. The powers are great, but it's really the level design and sense of humor that dominates.
It has tongue in cheek humor / satire and great levels. High production values help too. Definitely one of the best I've played this year.
