We've actually seen someone playing Prey, so it's no longer a contender. What I find funny is that Human Head seems to have knocked up a playable version of 3DR's other ten year project in little over a year, and 3DR are depending on them to do it before they run out of money.
Once Prey hits the shelves, Human Head should offer to take DNF off their hands too.

I think you'll find most of us are counting from the release of DN3D, not the beginning of DN, or more fairly, the announcement of DNF. Otherwise that'd be like saying Quake 4 took ten years to make.
