It is a fun movie to just watch stupidly, but it has a number of issues.
I do think it
finally had some emotion, but still weak overall. This was the third in the trilogy, the conclusion, the last
ever Star Wars, and I still felt like it had just *started* the drama, political backstabbing, and emotion.
- Sorry, Padme, but did not feel a thing about your death. And...er...why did you die? Yeah, I know what you would like to claim the reason was, but if never played through in the acting. No concern about Anakin's future, no dying breath about saving the children; just a "He can still be good..........OMG I MUST DIE!"
- Dooku? The general? Most of the characters? They all really felt like they were just additions that were tossed into the mix without any real importance.
- The Qui-Gon thing was just a lame excuse as to why Qui-Gon had died the way he had and to justify Obi-Wan's own future discussions with Luke.
- Yoda ran for no good reason
- Yoda couldn't sense Anakin's fall? The emperor was lying about the children? Anakin could not even sense his own children, not even when his own son is the one to balance the force? Nobody could sense Palpatine?
- Darth Plagueis creating Anakin causes issues whether you believe him or not.
- I applaud the Palpatine change for at least trying something to explain everything, but it does fall nearly as flat as the Qui-Gon thing.
I could go on and on about the missed things, but you get the idea. It was the best of the trilogy and the first of the trilogy to actually have some feeling and sense to it, but for being the third and final in the series, it was a failure. More...it did what it could, but the first two movies, particularly the first, really screwed things up.
