Out of the Blue

It's a long holiday weekend here in the U.S., as it's Memorial Day, remembering fallen soldiers, while marking the unofficial start of summer. It's been a little cool and dreary lately for it to be considered summer yet, and the forecast for the weekend looks like more of the same. It's no big deal here, as we have no particular plans, but if you have something going this weekend, here's hoping the weather cooperates for you.

Oh they have it every now and then, they have one really good guild, but their name escapes me right now. Besides, it's pretty easy to hold the HoH right now, as long as you know what you're doing. (right now, that's spam Balthazar's Aura and Spellbreaker, together with Live Vicariously, and have five monk/mesmers...)

But there are about 50000 times more american guilds than there are European, and so the US simply holds it more.

Good game tonight btw guys.

Korea has it a lot really late at night here when there are more of them awake and playing, I think it's pretty even in that regard. I don't think that I have ever seen Europe have the gods' favour, though.

I just saw a message saying a European team won. Forgot to take the screenshot to prove it though.

Do the Europeans HAVE to change their servers to join the guild?
No, you don't. I invited Malakai last night and he accepted and was in the Guild, easy-peasy.

Unless he changed his home servers to America and didn't mention that, of course.

since the US carries favor about 90% of the time, it seems a bit unfair to Europe and Korea.

Blah blah blah.......except that Mannequin's birth was a "force birth" or whatever they called it in the first film.

For all intents and purposes, Palpatine is basically acknowledging Mannequin's creation, that he is the apprentice, his history, etc.

Yes, right off the bat, the sets up a whole batch of alarms, but that is my point - what the "cool" (i.e. non-stupid) answer is versus how it actually shows us or plays out in these fairly week movies of the fairly weak "new" trilogy.

Blah blah blah...it causes problems both ways that you take it and I am pointing out the overall weakness of Lucas' stories, not to mention outright dialogue, and the ongoing "Make it up as you go" approach he seems to have.

There are numerous issues with the trilogy, you pointed out even more, but that was my original point. It was fun to watch, it was the first movie, in my opinion, that had some emotion and tried to tie into everything, but the small details really hurt it.

It was fun, though, and better than the other two. So yay!
Oh noes! I cut of Windu's hand! Now I must go dark! Er...
Leaving it at that,

No, because at the time he says that, HE already KNOWS that Darth Vader is his dad, and that Leia is his sister.
Ergo, he's most definitely asking about Vader's wife, because he never knew her.

He's not just asking about Leia's mom to make small talk. He's trying to broach the subject about the fact that Darth Vader is her father to Leia.

That's my line and I'm sticking to it dammit

To Creston:

Dude, you get no points for Star Wars. Think about it - Leia's name was Leah ORGANA. She was raised by Bail Organa (Jimmy Smitts) and his wife. So Leah's memories of her "mother" weren't really of her real mother at all.

To nin : Sorry, nice try, but no

Luke : Leia, do you remember your mother? Your REAL mother?
Leia : Just images really, feelings.
Luke : Tell me.
Leia : She was very beautiful. Kind, but sad. Why?
Luke : I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her.

Now, to me, that would seem to indicate he's referring to Padme. Leia KNEW she was not Bail Organa's daughter, because she already strongly suspects Luke is her brother (even though he doesn't tell her to confirm it until a bit later, but she says, "I know. Somehow, I've always known.")
That, combined with Luke's STRONG emphasis on the word REAL (mother), would to me indicate that Leia knew Luke was talking about Padme. :)

I know way too much useless Star Wars crap

Edit : About Palpatine :

I don't think Palpatine was Plagueis (what a fucking retarded name) apprentice. It seemed to me he was alluding to a Sith Lord that was in power a long time ago. Remember, at the time of Ep 1-3, the Sith are really beaten down, which is why the Prophecy states that a Chosen One will come to restore balance to the Force. The Jedi, in their arrogance (and they ARE fucking arrogant in Ep 1-3), automatically assume this means that Anakin is there to overthrow the Sith, never imagining the he's there to restore the balance in the Sith's favor. 2 Sith, 2 Jedi.

If Plagueis was Palpatine's master, it would, imo, assume that the Sith were rather more powerful than they were at the time. I mean, that's some pretty hefty power you're talking about, if Plagueis was in hiding trying to avoid detection from the Jedi, I don't know if he would be able to obtain / hide such power.

For that matter, it is ENTIRELY possible that Palpatine is lying to Anakin about this power and its existence, simply to push him into the Dark Side.

In fact, I find that latter part more likely than the idea that Palpatine was Plagueis' master.

But I think we'll never know the truth on that matter.

We haven't talked about that in awhile

Do the Europeans HAVE to change their servers to join the guild? I think they can just be invited, the only thing is, if we ever WOULD win a battle in the HoH, they'd be working to keep the favor for the US, rather than Europe. Oh nos!!!1!!

I'm thinking they can just join the guild, without having to switch servers. Just the guild would be registered as a US guild (Since Qix already registered it).

Btw, for those of you wondering what that favor thing does, when your area has favor, you can /kneel at the Temple of Ages, pay 1K, and enter the xxxxxx whatever, heaviest dungeon of the game. You can ONLY enter that dungeon when your area has favor.

It's a cool idea, but since the US carries favor about 90% of the time, it seems a bit unfair to Europe and Korea. I wonder if they're going to change that.

My apologies complicity, I've just gotten a call to watch the game and drink Beer
You never have to apologize to me when it comes to choosing between beer and gaming.

Malakai, nin and myself played until Mal's intoxication overtook him and he needed to go to sleep. Then nin dropped off at 1:30. I just logged out, and if I could direct your attention to the time...

So the Guild is up and running (Blue Conclave), and currently has 5 members (myself, nin, Malakai, Bucky, and Creston).
Is there any way to change my name so that I can add the tag?
The tag is there already, you just don't see it. Hit 'F' in-game to select yourself and you will see that it is in place.

Ray and Kannibal,

SST: I'm curious about this too. For one, Palpatine doesn't say that HE was the apprentice, and I don't think he concealing this fact for two reasons. First, if he was the apprentice then he should already know the secrets that Anakin seeks, yet when he converts Anakin he says something to the effect of "We will search out these secrets together." Second, if was lying to Anakin, was the apprentice and already knew the life-extension/death prevention techniques (Sounds like simple Jedi biological control taken to an extreme, ala Dune), then when Anakin/Vader is wounded in Episode 3, it would be the perfect time to use those techniques to bind Palpatine's life force to Darths, ensuring that Darth could never overthrow him (as a good Sith would) because it would mean his own death (a situation any Sith Lord would find irrestible). In fact, when I was watching it I thought what would happen is Palpatine would confess that we was the apprentice in the story to Vader when he finds him all beat to hell, and offer him another deal, he can live, but his life will be bound to Palpatines. That would make the drama in Ep. VI so much better! Thoughts?

End SST

BTW, did anyone read the books published over the last few years that might shed light on this? If so no plot spoilers, but were they any good? I wasn't going to pay for a hardcover StarWars book not written by Zahn (and I was terribly disappointed with those New Jedi Order books) but now that they are probably in the library, would they be worth reading? At least they would be free of Lucas hideous direction and writing!

EDIT: Another idea that Lucas is too stupid to persue but that would rock. If he must do a TV series, make it about "grey" Jedi who operate outside the Jedi Order and are not trusted by either Jedi or Sith. That has the potential for some actual drama, which of course Lucas could then ruin. On second thought, just let Bioware or Obsidian write the damn thing.

Ray,

Question about Darth P.

You mention sst Darth Plagueis creating Anakin /sst.

When was that ever mentioned in the movie?

sst
I recall the conversation saying how he was very wise and knew how to use the force/mideclorians to extend life/cheat death. He then alluded to the fact that he (Palpatine) learned his secrets and slew him in his sleep. Never do I recall him even implying he created Anakin.

Ah it's all wearing off now. I've been up for 18 hours, and the chances are that i'll be up for another 24 yet Ah i finished my last exam too, so i'm feeling really good indeedy

i might have missed a whole load today, but im guessing a BN guild was created on the US servers?

Quick question though, how many people that play GW are from the EU? Oh and if i'm rambling on for no reason about nothing, please inform me. I get like this when i've been drinking.

I'm a really happy drunk, all lovey dovey, although once in a while i can get very morrose. It's annoying when that happens. But then again that's probably why i'm seeing a shrink

Edit: I love first year freshers (freshmen i'm guessing the the US name for them). Such a better "crop" than last year Hot weather + hot women = eye candy for as long as you care to stare I'm rambling aren't i? WEEEEEEE!!!!!!
