Game Movies

This Sierra Entertainment Downloads Page features a movie with back-to-back F.E.A.R. and Scarface as well as console games The Incredible Hulk and Crash Tag Team Racing (thanks Frans). Also, the Alpha Prime teaser website now offers downloads of a new trailer showing off the Meqon physics in Black Element Software's upcoming first-person shooter. The movie is an 18 MB download. Finally, a new Scratches movie is online, showing off more of the upcoming 3D adventure. The clip can be found on the Nucleosys Website.

I'm suspicious of those grenades. It looks like they're full of powered dust. As soon as they explode, there's a big puff of red smoke.

Looks like Doom 3, moves like Halflife 2! I think they should start making objects that come apart now, or at least deform.

LOL!

I can't even try to imagine how you came up with that

That's assuming they didn't want it that way. Perhaps that is the question you want answered first.

Agreed. Action movie physics > real life physics.

"Max Payne 2, I feel, is the worst in this category. Yes, an assault rifle will send a guy flying backwards, but keeping that guy IN THE AIR with your sustained fire is slightly bullshit, eh Remedy?"

Ironic. I was just playing a little Max Payne 2 last night and doing exactly that - trying to see how long I could keep someone in the air.

What I don't understand is how guys test the game and don't go back to the developer saying "Look, this is just wrong, bodies don't float like this."

Max Payne 2, I feel, is the worst in this category. Yes, an assault rifle will send a guy flying backwards, but keeping that guy IN THE AIR with your sustained fire is slightly bullshit, eh Remedy?

It shouldn't be that hard to see that, then open the Havoc Control Panel and change ActorMass from 0.000001 to 5.

I think this all has to do with the way people setup the mass. Most values are configurable and unless someone has a very good knowledge (or feel) of physics the results can be poor.

The Alpha Prime vid shows promise (Meqon is pretty neat). But, and this seems true of Havoc too, nothing seems to give the impression of mass.
