Plus, Heather Graham was in it...

That did factor in there somewhere, I think.

Correct - I'm not saying it is a personal favorite, but it wasn't nearly as bad (to me, anyways) as everyone made it out to be. It was a good sci-fi popcorn movie, which is what I expected out of it.

Lost in Space? Haven't seen it in ages but I can't think of any others that fit the bill.

Btw, I just bought a pretty good bow nin, 13-24, +12% damage if you're hexed, +6% armor penetration (6% chance), and enchantments last 11% longer. I'd keep this and give you my old one (13-25 damage), but I customized that one...
You can have this new one if you want. I kinda stopped playing my Necro anyways, now working on my Elementalist / Monk.

I've got one of those, but I believe Bucky, who ran w/ us last night, could use it...I asked him last night and I think his was like 10-13 damage...

Bucky, that was you, wasn't it?

So why is it, in the newbie zone, if a baddie is a certain level below you, it ignores you, yet in the post-newbie, EVERYTHING attacks you, even if it's low level, netting you NO xp? Hell, I spend 30+ minutes wading through the 0 XP mobs before I get to anything good...

This confuses me too, although I suppose it's their (devs) way of trying to push you into the higher level areas?

Too right they do. Lord Timot and his minions come to mind. I got raped once by them, and realised i need to be lvl 18 at least to have a proper dig at them.

AARRRGGGHHHHHHHH how I fucking HATE that fucking mission!!!!! I had FINALLY whittled down his horde of level 18 assrapers, then got two of those hideously irritating smoke phantoms rising up out of the ground in the midst of my party (with 3 men already dead), chain lightning, chain lightning, lightning touch, dead.
So I wait, ress, and watch Lord Timot walk off behind a group of gargoyles and undead. So I figure, revenge first, then I'll chase him.
I kill everything in the level, and he just DISAPPEARED!!! > : (

I discovered Vernor Vinge a while back. By accident. I read "The Peace War" and thought it was cool. Then I read the sequel "Marooned in Realtime" and like how he took the tech developed in the first book and created the logical society which would inevitably develop around it. I read "A Fire Upon the Deep" not too long ago. It has the most amazing backdrop to any sci fi story I've ever read. Really, we've all read about this or that galactic society or empire as backdrop, Vinge's take on it is totally out of left field and simply wonderful. I ended up really loving that story. A LOT. Though it took some patience to get through the first quarter or so (I almost stopped reading it at one point).

I'll give it a try, thanks bud

Creston

I guess I forgot how slow the first part of Pandora's Star was because maybe he was building up the universe backdrop for the rest of the story. Still no excuse to be boring though.

I actually enjoyed the first part as well, although obviously once the Immotiles are introduced, things REALLY get going.
He has to take some time to explain the new universe, how the people who live in it work, what they do, how they thrive, how their civilization expands etc, because otherwise you wouldn't give a damn when 8 billion immotiles show up and nuke the shit out of 15 planets

The only part of the book that REALLY annoys me is Ozzie's journey to find the Silfen. That is just boring as hell. All the other stuff is fantastic to me. Currently rereading it my third time.

Some will pan my taste in movies, but this is from a sci-fi flick (1998) with several well-known actors/actresses, one of which was better known for TV work.

If it's the one I think it might be then yes, it does deserve a bit of a panning :). Lost in Space? Haven't seen it in ages but I can't think of any others that fit the bill.

I looked up the quote (I won't say what it is), and you're right about panning your taste in movies as far as this one is concerned. Oi.

Yeah, that's a little wacky..

One thing to keep in mind though is that the circle surrounding your character on the radar is your aggro-range, meaning that most critters won't spaz until they get within that area.

Then again, some will!

And then again they are usually linked in groups of at least 3 or more, so even if one has wandered off from its buddies and you aggro it, you may find a couple of others charging half-way across the map just to join in the fun.

That aggro circle sure gets to be pretty important to keep an eye on later in the game though. Never really expected the game to have a stealth component on top of everything else, but Holymamma do some of the high-level mobs ever kick my ass!

how is it that these people can sit around doing trash like this?
while not directly affiliated, these are the same folks who make up radio evangelist Dr. James Dobson's "Focus On The Family" right wing religious/political Activist group.

it's not only films, it's Radio (Howard Stern) and TV and Books (Harry Potter) and Games and Music and every other form of media; they literally sit around all day every day pouring over material looking for "objectionable" material. It's right wing grass roots activism.

And where's complicity been?!
*POOF*

Present.

This weekend was a holiday weekend up here in Canada, so I was busy out doing things Fri, Sat, and Sun. Monday was for recovery.

I last played GW on Thursday afternoon, and ran into some baddies that whomp my whole party flat in one shot. And they run in packs of about 10. Woot!

I'm playing tonight, though, coming in shortly.

NUMBER ONE COMPLAINT right there.
