Delta Force: Xtreme Demo

As noted in this press release, a demo version of Delta Force: Xtreme is now available, offering the chance to sample NovaLogic's new game based on the original Delta Force. The de-voxeled demo is a 290 MB download, available on this pop-up page on the NovaLogic Website. Warning! The first link on that page is to a corrupted file, while the second one is a link to the working version. The wrong/broken version has been widely mirrored, so take care not to get this from anywhere it is listed as a 201 MB file. A working mirror can be found on 3D Gamers and Gameguru Mania.

It is sad after all these years we must still resort to mods to fix Nova games. We as well fixed Xtreme with the McGarret mod balancing to be almost EXACTLY like DF 1. But no one is gonna d/l the mod... at least not in large enough numbers to make having it worthwhile.

The new DF community is just not as motivated as say, the BF community. As inviting as the BrutalArts mod sounds, I am pretty sure Xtreme was my last Nova game.

It feels like a crossbreed between Jo, Desert Combat and Op Flashpoint.

Nothing could possibly be that cool. The universe would implode and all existence would cease to ... um ... exist. Or something.

"The assumption that animals are without rights, and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance, is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality."

The brutal arts reality mod for jotr.

Everything jo should have been and much more.

I promise you it's worth the download. It is absolutely nothing like jotr, joe, or dfx. Simply awesome.

It fixes everything you mentioned and more, Shataan.

It feels like a crossbreed between Jo, Desert Combat and Op Flashpoint.

" Being able to kill from over 1 km away is what set the original apart in the first place!!!"

Exactly. Unhindered unforced engagement distances. THAT was Delta Force.

I have waited(like many have) since DF 2 for a Nova game done like Nova used to do them ala DF and DF 2. Since then they have systematicly removed just about everything that set those 2 stellar offerings from anything that was out at the time:

Removed:

1: Land Warriors release ... Nova removed the grass. Grass the single most tactical visuals cover element... which started to turn the game from tactical, to quaker.

2: BlackHawk Downs release... saw the removal of the M4 ACOG scope pretty well crippling the Rifleman Class... and Novas big move to do away with their long and mid range engagement distances=another core feature that no other dev excelled at, and their concentration on more or less a pure CQB.

3: Joint Ops is then released, and nova further dumbs down the sniper Class.... and again cripples the Rifleman Class etc etc etc.

4: DF Xtremes release, which Nova said was supposed to be a budget Delta Force release, but ends up being lip service only. What it really is, is Joint Ops Junior, with THE worst weap balancing EVER.

If this is what they are planning to release from now on, I hope they go under. Better this, then to see Nova turn Delta Force into a pure quaker.

What set the original apart was it's uncanny requirement of eagle eyes so you could see one moving pixel on an entire horizon and blast it to bits.

But seriously, that was fun

I have played the game, and it is very annoying that the M82 ( my favorite ) is limted to 650 m. It can easily shoot over 2 km's.. why 650 m limit? Being able to kill from over 1 km away is what set the original apart in the first place!!!

The M4 in the game is only good to 300 meters? I believe the real life effective range is 450, I know that the M16 is 500.

Pathetic.

And I too am forwarded to the previous page in my history when I click the US flag on their homepage. How good could their games be if they can't even code a simple webpage?

If you are a fan of Delta Force 1 or 2, do NOT bother with this one. A few of us at NW had to ask a modder dude named McGarret to mod the games weap range effectiveness to actually reflect DF 1. If you want M4s that are good only to 300 meters, and M82s good to only 650 meters etc etc etc, then this is your game. By this I mean, after those distances, the bullets you fire cease to exist. Meaning if your target is just 1 meter past the weaps range effectiveness cap, you can actually see your bullet disappear in mid air. The list goes on.

IMHO it is the worst weap balancing Nova has ever delivered. Great for quakers tho. Just not for fans of the REAL DF.

It's surprising that even today the marketing gimps are SO fucking stupid and out of touch that they still don't know that naming something "Xtreme" is a sure-fire method to making it look like a complete joke.
