Pariah Patch

The first patch for Pariah is now available, updating Digital Extremes' first-person shooter to version 1.01. The update addresses a "problem where the game would not load when using Windows 98 or Windows ME." The download is available from this Groove Games Support Page. Thanks Frans.

Well, after numerous accounts of HalfLife 2 having problems in XP that suddenly disappear while using Windows 98, I would say that whoever still uses 98 might have better reasons for this than the average Joe on this board could come up with.

Yeah, you get to ignore the trolls after a while. That and you decide that it becomes a waste of time arguing with idiots.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Thanks. Your the first gentleman I've run into in a while!

I've been around a while, but lately the pointless bickering and the incessant flaming of a select few idiots has been grating on me more and more as of late. Must be getting older...

Ahh...you must be new. Sadly, there's no way to block specific users posts...you just learn to scroll past them real quick. You'll get used to it...it's like shooing flies.

Regardless, welcome to Blue's News...the greatest gaming News website, with some of the most asinine posters on the Internet.

Hey, if anyone knows of a way to block posts from specific people, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Reading these forums would be way more enjoyable if I could read them without the childish rantings of a few morons.

I guesstimate I'm about halfway through the single player campaign. I have to say that it IS quite mediocre. To be honest I dont even remember what the storyline is or why I'm supposed to care about the protagonist and the chick he's protecting. It reminds me a lot of Raven's shooters, souless games with hit-the-switch-clear-the-level-gameplay. Trust me, I really wanted to like the SP part of Pariah but its like trying to muster up interest in fucking your wife after being with her for 5+ years. It feels like you've done it all before a million times before.

The only thing that is saving this is the multiplayer and map editor. The MP is tons of fun IMO and the map editor is so easy to build with and share with others it makes me giddy. I truly hope Epic can do something similar with the map editor in the next iteration of UT. The original UnrealED is still an option but having this simplified tool gives everyone a chance to create something fun.

The game is polished as much as it can be and it's pretty damn good if you have actually played it.

Translation: If you are a retard you will like this game even after you play it

They haven't noticed this bug until now probably because everyone has upgraded to WinXP

Umm no about 45% of all pcs still use windows 98, ever wonder why microsoft said they would no longer support 98, then a few weeks later they decided to keep suporting it anyway? Because more people use 98 then xp you dumb shit, but hey this is just logic speaking here.

So, 98 + me = most comps

therefore, they released a fucking product that had a "minor" issue where it wouldnt work with most comps. Real polished

Besides the operating system problem, I'm actually having fun playing this game. Although it doesn't add anything new to the genre it's still a entertaining game nonetheless. That's all that matters to me is the FUN factor, could it be better if it wasn't a port? ABSOLUTELY but I'll take it the way it is. It reminds me of a mix between Halo and UT2004 so that is a good thing in my book. I just wish it wasn't made for the antique POS consoles.

Hello! The 90s called, they want your bitching back. Or something. If you're playing games on a ME system you deserve everything you get. These people complain they shouldn't need 128K of memory. Then you realise they mean video memory. PC gaming exists only to weed out the weak and impure - check it out, I'm 100% correct.

Read what Parallax said. If the game lists 98 and ME on the box, it should work. For the record, I've been running XP for a while now and have no problem whatsoever with companies who don't support old OSes. Neither do I have any problem with companies who no longer support video cards lower than a Geforce 3. But the ones who do support old shit need to make their game work properly.

but why anyone with the hardware to run pariah at a decent level would be using 98 or me is completly and utterly insane.

Heh, the old myth that ME was somehow something less than the same old crap rears it's ugly head again. I ran ME on a spare parts box up until about 6 months ago without issue and while it is inferior to XP and 2000,the OS served me just as well as any 9x version has.

rofl major problem, win 98 not working maybe but if you still use Windows ME for anything you need to be punched in the face until your nose caves in.

You know, I agree that people who still run ME are asking for trouble, but if the game box says that the game supports 98 and ME and has a serious bug where it can't be run on those operating systems, the developer damn well should fix it. If they didn't want to support 98 and ME users, then they should make the games 2000 and XP exclusive.

a "problem where the game would not load when using Windows 98 or Windows ME."

That's a fairly major problem, I would say ...

The game is hardly finished. Play through the game and follow the story, it's clear things have been cut out and things don't come quite together.
