S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in 2006?

Oblivion-Lost.com has a story up speculating that the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl has slipped until 2006, offering the following quote from THQ responding to questions about the game's absence from their recent financial reports covering releases through the middle of next year: "We have no definitive release date yet for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. We do expect to have some announcements, including a public demonstration this summer. More news to follow." In an amusing side note, the THQ's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Website (thanks Rhialto) actually lists the game as "now available," much to the amusement of those who frequent the GSC Game World Forums.

Your not alone. Why cant developers get it we want these type of games?

Because, sadly, they all sold like crap.

Gamers are lemmings.

Fuck it, I want System Shock 3 or a REAL Deus Ex sequel

Your not alone. Why cant developers get it we want these type of games? I would love to see a SS3 or DE3, but if its a different IP and has the same game mechanics I'm all for it.

If you like those sorts of games though, i think you're going to have another to add to that list after E3. Call it a hunch.

I swear, it seems like nobody has even mentioned Bioshock since the announcement

I'd even forgotten it. Isn't that the one where they showed the screenshots of the trashed up lab? And you're some kind of nazi experiment broken loose or something?

Perhaps some actual news on the game would help people remember it's actually in development.

Fuck it, I want System Shock 3 or a REAL Deus Ex sequel

I don't think so. With so many screenshots and video and what we *should* see at E3.

I heard about Duke Nukem to be qualified vaporware but again I think I read lately that it's still coming?

I forgot the name of the only I know it was abandonned and that was announced recently.

In a nutshell its very very ambitious.

Most people would say it's unrealistic, and I think it's high time that someone over there figures this out as well, and lowers their aim a bit. Once more Doom 3 / Source engine games hit the market, Stalker is going to look like ass.
Yes, I know, looks aren't everything, but it will still be a major deterrent, especially since you're supposed to be wandering around this massive area most of the game. If you have to wander around, there better be something to look at.

Stalker was finished. But there was a problem. It seems that teamB in charge of the level design completely overlooked what Stalker was supposed to be about & had the objectives changed to little girls in the park. So the game *IS*/*WAS* available, but they had to pull it. Personally, I think it would have been kinda funny, in a fucked up way of course, much like Postal2 was a hoot.

especially if the developers keep trying to add new features to keep up with state-of-the-art.

My concern is that they start slashing features and content due to pressure to get it out the door and we end up with a tragic mess.

BF2 and F.E.A.R. are on my list as must haves. Elder Scrolls title looks really nice also. And of course Bioshock is on my list, hopefully we'll have some more info about it at this years E3.

I think we're sharing parts of the same brain. I swear, it seems like nobody has even mentioned Bioshock since the announcement. If you like those sorts of games though, i think you're going to have another to add to that list after E3. Call it a hunch.

Well. Thats bad news. But We should all take into account the recent events that took place in the Ukraine. I'm sure the whole switch to West style politics and scandals affected the dev company in some way.

But this game looked ready a long time ago...

I feel a tourettes outburst coming on...

going to press the button...

Every time I read previews of Stalker - even with the cuts - it still sounds brilliant (in concept). But it's in rapid danger of losing any credibility it has left if it keeps slipping like this; especially if the developers keep trying to add new features to keep up with state-of-the-art.
