Pariah Sequel Plans

WHAM! gaming (thanks Computer and Video Games and Frans) has quotes from James Schmalz of Digital Extremes indicating that a Pariah sequel is in the works, as the first game just hits shelves. There are scant details at this point, but the project sounds like it has an accelerated timeframe, as the DE executive producer reveals that not only is the title in development, but is targeted at current consoles, rather than the next generation of systems, with Schmalz calling Pariah 2 a "bridge" between current and future systems. A PC version of Pariah 2 goes unmentioned.

Why god why

Why must shitty games get sequels.

I wish people would stop buying shitty games, then maybe they would stop making them.

can't blame them. at this point he probably wants to give a big middle-finger to the PC community.

The same reasons shitty movies get made. The money's all on paper. Even a shitty game can net money if it's sold the right way to the right company. That being said, this looks like a bunch of smoke to cover up for the fact that Pariah isn't expected to sell.

More proof that all sites/mags are retards.

As if pc gamers "one of the best games ever" title for doom 3 didnt prove this.

How does it prove that PC Gamer magazine is retarded? For me it sure beat the crap out of HL2, and i played and completed both. I really don't understand this Doom 3 bashing that's happening.

"Oh the doom 3 levels were really poorly designed and cramped" Well actually no, they were designed better and the same size if not bigger than HL2 maps. Not only that but at least in D3 it told you when it was going to load a new level, unlike HL2 where you'd cross an invisible barrier and be greated by "loading...". Anyone who claims that HL2 maps are bigger than D3 maps, you obviously havent created a map in HL2 or D3. HL2 uses "Sky boxes" to fool you into thinking th map is a lot larger than it really is.

Bah i hate this D3 bashing, i really do.

Not really. It just says he prefers Doom 3 over Half Life 2. Not everyone bends over on the altar of Valve mindlessly like some tools I can mention.

That said, IGN giving Pariah a 7.8 while the entire review was completely negative is a farce. Ofcourse, a 7.8 is about the lowest score IGN will give to anything, so it probably translates to about a 3.8.

To flame, I think you hate D3 'bashing' because you're a dirty little fan boy! Well not really, but it seemed appropriate.

He made a point about PC Gamer selecting Doom 3 as the 'one of the best games ever'. He didn't say anything about HL2. You were the first to bring up that argument.

As for me, I'll reiterate that PC Gamer stating Doom 3 is one of the best games ever is a load of stinky dog feces, and again, I'll make no relation to HL2 (which incidently I didn't much like).

I haven't seen a game in years that has been one of the best games ever, and I'm not even a gameplay over graphics 'freak' ; )

D3's shortcomings in my opinion were that it was a schwarzenegger type game. Lots of shooting but without any depth to it. It looked great but had some poor gameplay mechanics. No light on guns, and no ambient light to keep it very dark always. Creatures spawning behind you and behind "sliding" walls. That might have been fine for the original Doom but I think those of us who've been playing FPS' for awhile now have grown up and would like really like something more then just run'n'gun.
HL2 scored higher in my books because of this. But it still had lots of holes.

I wish I would grow some bigger balls and get through with D3 already, but it just scares me too much.

But I played through HL2 and I have to say that it wasnt worth its money at all. Story was very simple, ending was crap, enemies were soooo predictable and AI was extremely stupid (didnt even run away when a grenade landed right at their feet) or extremely uber (magically adjusted their position to your position when they were hiding behind something). I also noticed very predictable enemy spawns. Just like what most people cry about in Doom3. Somehow I was waiting for something really big and challenging, but it never happened. The biggest thing were those Striders which werent scary at all. Even in the last level I thought it would go on at least a few more hours because NOTHING happened in the game yet, just jump & run (and some gun). Graphics werent that great at all. If you looked closely you noticed how faked the high visibility range was. Textures werent that high quality at all. Only thing that impressed me were the faces of most of the human models. They were really nice!
7.1 sound wasnt there. Even WoW has much better surround sound than HL2. I know that D3 is better in that.
HL2 sucked, plain and simple. Totally overhyped.
Doom3 looks far more promising to me right now. I hope I will finally play more than to when the first zombie apears. lol

Well, for starters.. you just have to press the 'Post with Login' button once.

As for the SP demo, is that the one that came with some gaming magazine? I heard it was not official or something and had bugs.. Might give it a try nevertheless.
