some of these mods were cash money for Valve and that’s the only reason they adapt them, and the open policy is the reason for these mods existence.
You won’t believe how many games I got half of their original price after 5-6 moths of their release date, and that’s other than $20-$30 range for games people bought and didn’t like so they sold for lower price after 2 week to one month of their release.
The whole thing about steam is controlling customer of what he’s permitted to do and what’s not, if you’re happy with that I can’t argue with you coz there’s no point, but I don’t like being controlled … by anyway.
Few years ago we were able to play CS11 – CS15 at LAN parties with a lot of joy, now it’s pain in ass to play CS16 or CSS and HL2DM thanks to steam, but we managed to get around it anyhow.
