Yeah... Flashblock takes care of Flash music, but sometimes the music is integral to the site (the music plays as part of the menu flash) so blocking the music requires blocking the flash.
Ah, I see. That would be pretty irritating. I've no idea whether you can mess with flash to globally prevent it playing sound.
I am yet to see a website that benefits from the use of music.
Indeed; and I've seen precious few that did anything other than cause irritation by using Flash at all, let alone making menus play music. Frankly, I don't think I'd ever re-visit a site that did this.

I'm still buying this one. Really great single player experience from what I've played.

Don't waste your time with this..Pure garbage.lol

Having just played the single-player demo, I have to agree with that sentiment. I don't care whether it was ported from console to PC or PC to console or any other way, it's a console shooter through and through. The only good thing I could note about it is that the enemy AI isn't bad. Unfortunately that doesn't make up for the crappy, inaccurate weapons, the huge freaking crosshair thingy, the general boringness of the level that I played, and the console-ish feel to the whole thing. It's quite obvious that they designed this for play with a gamepad. That's why you can get shot about 30 times before you die, and why they have an auto-aim option, and why there is practically no strategy to it at all. Just shoot the bad guys and move to the next set of bad guys.... yawn. Uninstalled.

And yet you continue to let your web browser play music...

Of course, I could just press "mute" but then... I am yet to see a website that benefits from the use of music.

LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THE CROSSHAIR

I was going to write a point by point post on the things I didn’t like but the crosshair sums it all up. It’s a nasty console port.

Spongy controls, tiny levels, horrible netcode, inaccurate weapons etc etc..

How anybody who’s played UT2004 or even the not that great Halo PC can even consider keeping the demo on their HD, let alone handing over money for Pariah is beyond me

Technically, it may not be a port. However, it was codeveloped for both the PC and X-Box, meaning that the PC version has to accomodate for X-Box limitations (low-res textures, simplistic controls, etc). That's the problem whenever any game is codeveloped for multiple platforms. The PC version will always be bottlenecked by the weaknesses of the consoles.

The single biggest problem with the PC version of this game is that DE ignored the fact that a PC is not an X-Box

The single player demo completely sucked.

Grenade effect didn't work and simply turned entire screen black. (GF6800GT/dx9.0c/winxp sp2)

Sounds made me feel like I was shooting plastic bb's instead of bullets. (tink tink!)

Crosshairs were some of worst I've used.

Etc etc.

This definitely is one game I'm gonna have to "borrow from a friend" before buying.

For a port I thought the game looked pretty damned good.

Okay, I didn't like the game, but I'm sick of seeing this lie being spread.

Pariah, is NOT A CONSOLE to PC PORT. Pariah is written using the *Unreal* engine, and from what I know was actually up an running on the PC before it was ever running on a console. So if anything, it was a port to a console, which even then it's really not, since it's the same engine that just happens to be able to run on multiple platforms.

why can't I play it on a system with ten times the processing power?"

Because of the whole xbox does nothing but play games thing, so for example if there was a console with current pc hardware, it would look years ahead of any pc game.

Well, you were right about the first three. Not sure about the fourth or sixth and well, the fifth needs no comment.

The fourth is... um... a typo. Yeah! Because I ah... can't edit... and stuff...

I dunno, the multiplayer demo is kind of cool, but does feel like a mish-mash of many different multiplayer shooter elements combined somehow. I would like to see what the single player is like for sure, but I definitely wouldn't buy this on the merits of multiplayer.
