It depends on which server you are playing...but you have about 20-50 Jedi Knights on a server and countless Padawans running around -> everyone, his grandma and her get is going jedi, it's just silly

blah blah blah, it's everquest in space, blah blah blah.

Said once, said one million times.

Can't you people ever say anything constructive?

Or do you work for the negativity police?

Thanks for your "ONLY" reasoning as if people would play everquest if it was based on "Fill in boring title here" because it was a good game.

The fact that SWG is as popular as it is is a testament to how well the game has been implemented, despite the fact that its gameplay, while broad, is jarringly shallow.

The ONLY reason people play it is because it is set in the Star Wars universe. There is nothing redeeming about this pile of crap whatsoever. SWG sucks.

It's odd, because on paper SWG should be the ultimate MMORPG, with a very deep background, lots of stuff to do, and great graphics.

I think it's the sameness of everything that does it in, ultimately. Almost everything is randomly generated, except the items, which are all player-crafted (unless they've changed that recently), and so almost all exactly the same. The fact that groups are a waste of time doesn't help, either. I can play single-player RPGs already, and they have far better plots and are free and don't have lag and don't crash.. And what's with eating a cupcake to gain +40 strength?

Most MMORPGs have many unique dungeons, smaller yet more unique zones (despite not being 65,000 square miles), and quests that are, yep, unique, rather than being the same 'kill the grokl to the NW' over and over and over and over.

The fact that SWG is as popular as it is is a testament to how well the game has been implemented, despite the fact that its gameplay, while broad, is jarringly shallow.

Pete reduces SWG to its basic elements. Pete can you do that for all of mankind? Or how about a synopsis of human achievement?

You will be playing Everquest2, or WoW in space.

and if you want to get a jedi, master a profession, do like 2 or 3 themeparks, and visit 5 jedi points of interest.

then wait for an old man to visit you, get in the village. and grind x 10^99 to unlock 6 force sensetive branches. once that is over you get some padawan trials, then go kill a cyborg and you get your training lightsaber.

after that, you guessed it, grind for 10^99^99. but this time you gotta watchout that no npc or person comes within 32 meters of you grinding because you will get visibility. which will mean bounty hunters (actual players) can hunt you. and until you get master lightsaber(before the CU) you are as powerful as a, well something weak and insignificant that can be killed by sneazing at it.

once you are done grinding, you will be a pvp and pve machine, and will continue to kill and kill, because that is the jedi way? then you can do some knight trials, which involves, you guessed it, killing x amount of y critters.

thats it for content. unless you like crafting or dancing, which you can then either craft stuff, or dance!

swg free and loving it

In essence, no one is special 'cause everyone is special.

Ah yes, the "Incredibles" school of thought. (Actually, that does makes sense to me...but then again I loved "The Incredibles."

You know, one of the reasons that the path to Jedi-hood was sucha secret is because Sony and/or Lucasarts felt that if everyone was a Jedi, it would no longer feel special. In essence, no one is special 'cause everyone is special. Hmmm. Seems to me that 'City of Heroes' is doing just fine, even though everyone is a hero.

So, what exactly ended up being the big secret on how to become a Jedi in this game? How many are there on a server? Is it not as big of a deal as they made it out to be or what?

If you liked WoW, your probably not going to like Galaxies. WoW is such a dumbed down RPG(I'm not saying that in a negative way) where as Galaxies is an anal fest of menu delight(again not in a negative way)

I never played Galaxies, but have been sucked into WoW. Personally, I think I'd find the Star Wars world more to my taste than the Wow fantasy milieu, but I haven't heard much good about Galaxies. Anyone who has played both think that Galaxies may be worth a try?

Oh yeah, they need to stop with the exclusive content already. There's six kinds of vehicles in the game now. One is a high-level drop. The other two are exclusive. It's lame as hell.

Yeah, for someone who used to play SWG and even betaed the disaster that was JTL, it's kind of a kick in the teeth to be giving it away as part of Rage of the Wookies and in this bundle, only 6 months after it's release.

Better replace the fanbase, because from what I read about the CU, the current players aren't going to be staying around. =/

Isn't it a bit unfair on the people who've sunk vast sums of monthly-fee cash over a long time, to give away an exclusive new thingymebob to new buyers?

PC KOTOR II with HK droid factory, proper finished ending, and working with ATI etc, would of been better than a compiled MMORPG. HAHA suits, suck.
