Audio aliasing will happen if you sample the sounds at an unsufficient rate.
More specifically, it will happen when the sampling frequency is lower than twice the frequential bandwidth of the sample signal (This is called the Shannon-Nyquist theorem).
On the other hand, I don't really know what audio antialiasing would be. Probably some better kind of interpolation between the samples.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I voluntarily ADD EAX to any of my games. Doom 3 sounds perfectly fine without it, thank you.

If only motherboard manufacturers would come out with decent sound solutions (I tried the AC97 codec on my Gigabyte board, and it REALLY fucking sucks), we could get rid of Creative, or at LEAST force them to hire someone who can write a marginally decent driver.

They have 11 guys with a Phd in music, but apparently zero with a phd in writing fucking code.

Edit : On a sidenote, I like the expansion so far (I needed something to tide me over for a week until Jade Empire is released), but the addition of that helltime artifact does take away any and all fear / anxiety / worry you might have had going into a dreary dark room.

I just run in, activate all the monsters, activate helltime, kill them when they're (near) frozen.

Good thing is that the helltime is pretty limited, you can only store 3 charges at once.

The only 'shutter' or rather stuttering I have encountered is the X-Ray room in the Medical area where the zombies are walking and you can see their skeletons through the X-Ray. I personally think this has something to do with the Catalyst 5.3 Drivers, since I have not experienced anything bordering on stuttering or 'shuttering' anywhere else to be truthful – ATI 850XT is such a wonderful card btw. The beta Audigy 2 ZS drivers seem fine, though I wish Activision released the patch so we could actually test them out. Btw anyone else notice that Creative drivers seem to cause DCOM errors? There is a work around for that (since all creative Audigy 2 drivers from my point of view seemed to have this issue from the get go) where you simply go into Device Manager and view all hidden devices – looking under Non Plug and Play driver and change PfModNt properties so it startup type is System and then change PFDetNT startup to on Demand and then restart the system and no more DCOM errors. I just wonder when Creative is ever going to fix that.

After playing 10 min with ROE it start to shutter and after 20 min it become unplayable coz of heavy shuttering, but when I exit and run the game again it plays perfectly normal except that the whole thing will start again after 10 min… anyone have this problem or is it related with Audigy?

when you say "shutter", do you mean "stutter"?? either way, i have played for over an hour non-stop and had no problems of any kind. and i have an Audigy (2) card, so i doubt it is an Audigy-specific problem.

creative download page says it requires "DOOM 3(tm) 3 1.3", ressurection of evil includes the 1.2 patch, god knows when 1.3 will arrive...

3 hours into it and it's very good...

As far as I know, my Nvidia Soundstorm has nothing to do with Creative.... true, those sound effects on offer are identical to what I have on my older SB equipped machine....

Still, sound with my Nvidia system fecks up often.... I just started on DooM3 again before grabbing the expansion and I spend more time hitting the bound 'K' to restart the sound than almost anything else... The sound crackles, or goes completey..... So, whilst I hate Creative with a passion..... I'd not be totally sure the feckups here can be directly and solely attributed to them.....

Now, HL2 on the other hand.... that never gave me any sound problems until they patched it to fix the sound problems others were having.... then, lucky old me, I got them as well....thanks Valve;P

Don't advertise improved performance with a game until *after* the damn patch is ready. I can't believe I just fell for that crap. Luckily I had system restore turned on. EAX4 is supposed to cause a whole bunch of problems with other games.

And what the hell is with the Activision site asking for a damn credit card number before they'll let you in?

This explains why my Doom 3 : RoE has the same problem I had with half-life 2; THe infamus audio freezing. Its creatives fault. The game runs smoothly, but then all of a suden it will freeze up and audio is stuck and the game resumes. This happend to me with Half-Life2, never occured with Doom3 but with the expansion and EAX4 it's HL2 problem all over again.

Well this is crap, their special driver only works on the Audigy 2 and higher. The A1 cards are exactly the same save 24bit audio processing capabilities, so the A1 cards are fully capible of doing EAX 4.0 and OpenAL. This is complete and utter crap from Creative, they have no reason to shaft A1 owners like this other than pure greed. Thankfully previous A2 drivers at least have been hackable to be allowed to be used on A1 cards.

On a related note, this is the result of Creative's suit against id claiming ownership of the Carmack's Reverse technique. I'd like to bash CL over this, but honestly, I'm a headphones user, so I actually want Doom3 to support EAX so that I can have 3D audio with my headphones.

it has fixed the issue. I used to not be able to play in surround b/c the sound would cut out completely. I can play w/it on now. (I'm not sure if this is b/c of the update that also came with RoE addon, but I guess it could be).

I was hoping this would fix the surround sound bug that some of us have, but I guess we won't know because THERE'S NO PATCH FOR DOOM3 TO FIX IT!
